Here's a good way to gauge how important a single player's contribution is to his team: total points divided by team goals. We have a runaway winner:
Draisaitl: 49.33%
McDavid: 43.50% *missed 7 games, he's been in on 47.78% of team goals in games that he played. Oilers were 3-2-2 (.571) in games that he missed.
Pastrnak: 41.85%
Panarin: 40.77%
Eichel: 40.41%
Kane: 40.38%
MacKinnon: 39.41%
Kucherov: 34.98%
Huberdeau: 34.21%
Zibanejad: 32.19% *missed 13 games, he's been in on 39.89% of team goals in games that he played. Rangers were 8-4-1 (.651) in games that he missed.
- Draisaitl went off the charts when shifted onto his own line, that and the nearly 50% contribution rate should seal the Hart for him.
- Pastrnak has had an amazing season but plays with two other all-stars, I don't see him getting enough 1st place votes to win it.
- Panarin's team isn't in a playoff position, although they're close. Same with Eichel, Kane and Huberdeau, but those teams aren't close.
- I don't buy the narrative that MacKinnon has been powering the Avalanche alone for much of the season, he's basically 10 points below Draisaitl on the list above. That's an incredible chasm.
