There is an MVP award that is voted on by the players, it's called the Ted Lindsay Award.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Lindsay_Award

Yes i know. But if you read carefully i saidbthat the hart should be voted by retired coach and players.

And defensive attribution, opposing matchups, how clutch you are in key moment. Those aren’t thing that your data showed. The fact that the oilers have score lots less goal then other team have a impact on those number.

All good points! Like I said, we can use only two things (points and this confusing stat that might actually prove that drai doesnt deserve it), or we can use all information we have and realize that Drai doesnt deserve it and that it is going to be someone (like Hall two or three years ago) that did it on his own

And yeah i didnt even see the end.
Dude you realize that Pasta being here without Marchy or Bergy makes him more likely to win it than Drai with Mcdavid here. They "need" eachother, Pasta doesnt "need" Marchy or Bergy is what YOUR fraphic shows.

I didn't list every player in the league because it was too much work.

Pastrnak: 41.85%
Marchand: 38.33%
Bergeron: 28.28% (of games that he played in)

And you're way off base with your assertion about certain players 'needing' each other:

Pastrnak with Marchand: 80.7% of his 5v5 ice time, 80.8% of his total ice time.
Draisaitl with McDavid: 47.5% of his 5v5 ice time, 54.1% of his total ice time.

If either of these guys "needs" their teams other star player to produce, its Pastrnak. Draisaitl has proved that he doesn't need McDavid along to put up league-leading numbers. For perspective, Draisaitl is on pace for a 127-point season. In the past 24 years, only 1 player has produced more than that, Kucherov with his 128-point season last year. And Draisaitl did it while playing only about half his time with McDavid.

He deserves the Hart and the Ted Lindsay.

Show your numbers please. A "lot less" goals? I suppose you mean "fewer"...

1. Tampa: 243
4. Colorado: 236
7. Boston: 227
11. Edmonton: 223

Wow, a whole 4 goals fewer than Boston.

Listen man, I cant tell you how to think or what to believe. If you wanna only make your judgement based on points and percentage of teams points, you can (and apparently the hart voters do as well). But those of us who want to pick the MVP properly will use many other bits of info and determine that Mcdavid, Marchy, Drai, and Pasta all shouldnt win it. Maybe this is why the Ted Lindsay is a better judge than the Hart, or maybe we do just need better people voting. But bottom line is you can say and believe what you wish, and I wont stop you, but Drai does not deserve MVP. Could he win the Hart? Sure! That doesnt mean he deserves to win it

Draistail is a -7, pastrnak is +21 and mackinon +12
Draistail point share is 12,4, pastrnak is 13,6 and 10,2 for mackinon (point share is like the war in baseball).

Stats doesn’t always show all the benefits a players bring to the game. A guy’s like patrice bergeron is more useful then a lot of the top scorer in the game but he doesn’t get recognition he deserve.

The Hart Trophy winner is determined by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. There is little evidence that a common agreement with respect to what constitutes most valuable player exists. I think that reality is manifest in the seeming fluidity of criteria previously used as rationale for those who were bestowed the honour.

The Ted Lindsay Award recipient (most outstanding player) is determined by the NHLPA members, and there seems to be relatively little, if any, controversy with the previous selections made by the NHLPA.

Maybe there is too much focus on what the writers think, and too little respect given to what the player think.

I agree with that. The reason? Everything we read in the media is written by the sports writers. They have the public voice, they control what we read and hear. They care far, far more about their own opinions than the opinions of others. Naturally.

This is a very good reason why Pastrnak shouldn't be MVP and Draisaitl should.

Pastrnak with Marchand: 80.7% of his 5v5 ice time, 80.8% of his total ice time.
Draisaitl with McDavid: 47.5% of his 5v5 ice time, 54.1% of his total ice time.

Draisaitl has outscored Pastrnak by 15% despite playing with lesser linemates.

On statsreference. There a place that explain the point share. They combine defensive point share and offensive point share to get the final result but that show a good indication for defenseman to for the norris.
