That other team in Florida doesn't offer the same chance to compete for a cup. Also, alot of players realize their roles and are ok with it. Plus you have to factor in that it's not just the player getting traded it's their whole family that has to uproot their lives and their kids have been at the same school and have friends that they don't want to leave plus the lifestyle. Yes, players can be traded but literally the whole point of NTC/NMC is so the players can control their futures and they took less to have that right so why besides ice time which they seem to be fine with would they agree now to waive them and move for the betterment of the team and not do what's best for themselves and their families?

why do you keep assuming these guys are ok with being 4th liners?
20 goal scorers aren't OK with being 4th line players.
You aren't talking about a guy who's made a career blocking shots, checking, dropping gloves and that's basically it. You just assume they are ok with it because that's their current predicament. These guys are hockey players. Not bench warmers. They want to play. And while I get the whole family thing. As they stay 4th liners their career basically ends there. No guy in basically the end of their hockey prime wants their careers last best years ending up on the bench.

He's saying they won't be traded because the players don't want to go hence why they signed for less initially so why would they up and move now? Also, what's the chances that another team playing in another tax-free market would trade for them and that they would get more ice time? You're looking at it from the team's perspective and not the players. That IMO is what @oneX was alluding to but like I always say I don't like to speak on others behalf so you're better to ask him yourself but he makes a ton of sense and I know for a fact that he's a very knowledgeable person who deserves to be treated with way more respect than what you've shown him. If you don't want to show him the respect he deserves than don't want his time.

The players signed for less not because of TB but because of the tax rate. They can keep their tax rate.

Uh, no oneX ain't clueless and you just lost all credibility for even suggesting so. BTW Nashville is the most advantageous in terms of taxes but Florida offers more and the lightning give players a better chance to compete for a cup year in and year out than any other tax-free state.

TN is not the best tax value state. I don't know where you get that idea. TN has a 6% state income tax. Their only tax breaks are in investments.

But what tax free team is in a better position to compete for the cup?

You don't compete for a cup while sitting on the bench as a 4th liner. I don't know why you don't get that. No one dreams of sitting on the bench during the stanley cup. That's not what guys play for.
You don't really seem to get it. Their role is going going gone.
If they sit on the bench, their career is basically over. Because they aren't going to magically get more ice time here. No guy at 28 or 29 or whatever wants their career to end. They want to play. They are still capable of playing. Sooner rather than later these guys are going to be moved. They will be asked to waive. If not this off season then most likely for the expansion draft where they get little choice of their move.
You just assume guys will say no. That they don't mind not playing. I find that hard to believe.

Why do you assume they're not? Do you work for a from office? Do you have insider information that you can share with the rest of us?

Not if they go to a state that has state tax, and there's no guarantee that they can go to another one that does not.

Actually, I've looked into it and players in Nashville take home the most money.

You absolutely can compete for a cup while playing on a fourth line how do you figure you can't? I don't know why you don't get that some players are happy where they are and don't want to uproot their families and their lives. And like I said there's no guarantee they would get more ice time on another team so why would they want to take the risk? Also, 4th liners still play during the playoffs just maybe not as much. Could they agree to waive...sure but it seems unlikely and I think that was the point that @oneX was trying to make. And why do you assume their careers will end because they play the fourth line? They can be asked to waive that doesn't mean that they have to they have the right to say no...how do you not understand that? And if they have a NTC then they have to be protected for the expansion draft.

Not everyone is going to get top 6 minutes, it's a fact. Some players on that Tampa team should be smart enough to recognize that. Even getting just 3rd and 4th line minutes on a good team that has a very good chance at winning multiple rounds is better than being traded to a team that doesn't have the same aspirations.

I'm done arguing with you. You are clueless.
You are going to make up imaginary tax rates. Shows how clueless you are.
0% state income tax, vs 6% state income tax.
it's not really rocket science.

I know, your idea of winning a cup is being a passenger. You'd make a great NBA bench warmer. You could be the guy handing everyone a towel and claiming you won.
