ottawa has no reason to trade gaborik and Larsson isnt that good. they would have to add quite a bit more.

Larrson has high end talent but struggled with depression after his dad died and struggled with injuries. I'm rooting for Eagle and don't want him under the Leaf's microscope.

Gaborik's contract is insured and counts towards cap. No way Melnyk lets that go.

Larsson has been amazing after about the 10 game back after his injury, why is he not good. Because he is playing first line minutes with McDaddy and Drai-2 of the worst defensive players in the league.

Not a Johnsson fan and I don't see why Holland would go after him when he just acquired Athanasiou. Kerfoot maybe?

Exactly, if we are trading Larsson, Kapanen better be involved. leaf can keep struggling with their no defense D

Statistically hes a high end 5th defenseman but hes fine as a #4. McDavid and drai are better when they're on the ice without him then when he is with them. Hes not a very good puck mover and has really shown that hes not that talented. Getting larsson (who's a rental) wont cost johnsson and especially not kapanen. Johnsson could put up 65 points if he would play with McDavid. The Johnsson-matthews-nylander line was a top 10 line in the nhl when they played together.

Doubtful. He'd have to break into the Oilers 1st PP unit to come anywhere close, which is highly unlikely.

Factually untrue. No line that gets 53.57 GF% over 515 minutes over the past 3 years is a top-10 line. Here's a clue: when Matthews and Nylander were together without Johnsson, they posted a much better 65.63 GF%.

Poor Kapanen is going to waste his whole career playing on the 3rd line.

How about looking at corsi and xG. Johnsson put up 48 points playing with matthews and kapanen 5v5 and got very little time on the pp and the time he got was on a terrible unit

Does the NHL give out awards for corsi? or xGF? Nope. You'd think a "top-10" line would get actual results.

And what makes you think Johnsson would score more with McDavid+Kassian than he did with Matthews+Nylander?

He did get above average results playing with Matthews and nylander. He would also do way better with McDavid then kassian ever will. Kassian shouldn't be anything more then a bottom 6 forward. The nhl gives out awards for points and still uses plus minus as a serious stat. I dont know what that has to do with anything

No he didn't. They were better without him.

Johnsson and Kassian don't play the same position. If Johnsson ever played on a McDavid line, Kassian would likely be there too.

You missed my point completely: any top-10 line has to outscore its opponents considerably. Two points are awarded for a win and the only way to win is to outscore your opponents consistently. That line was barely over 50%.

You are looking purely at goal shares. Based on stats that almost all teams use that arent points the line of matthews, nylander and johnsson are one of the best lines in the league at creating high danger scoring chances, have near a 60% xG share, and I'm around a 56% corsi. With stats like that the shooting luck will rebound and they will be a top 10 line if they get more TOI together
