Do you think you should give Sorokin more term? That way if he exceeds expectations you can push his contract renewal a year or two and keep it more cost effective.

You're going to have to throw in this year's 3rd And 4th for wings to take hickey. Too much term left on that contract

Minnesota won't be retaining salary on Parise. The deal is Islanders dump Laad who can't play in the NHL for Parise who currently still can. Lou doesn't understand people age which is why he wants his boy Zack.

I guarantee that if that deal happens, Lou makes Parise retire the second he's no longer a top nine contributor. Minnesota would be screwed.

He's only eligible for a 1 year ELC with bonuses

That would 1000% be met with a grievance from the NHLPA that they would totally win and Lou would be forced to retire in shame. And unlike the common idea on here, you can't just put an old guy on LTIR without a medical. So the thought of Lou is so smart because he's going to turn Laad into Parise for a couple of decent years before making him retire or putting him on LTIR is entirely laughable. Remember this is the guy that gave Marleau 6+ for 3 years at the age of 37. He isn't at all good at his job.

Do you remember how Joffrey Lupul's career ended? He had been medically cleared by an independent doctor. Lou didn't want him to play so he didn't play.

I'm not even saying he's going to pull LTIR shenanigans. I'm saying he's going to tell him to hit the bricks and actually retire. Lou is a 90 year old mobster, if he asks you to do something you do it

That is completely false. He made some comments on Instagram or Twitter saying he wasn't being given a chance to play so the NHL demanded he get a 3rd part doctor to examine him at which time he was found to not be healthy enough to play. Which is why he has still never played hockey again. But hey facts don't matter if they stand in the way of your argument.

As for Lou being this mobster everyone listens too, why isn't he still in TO? Shanahan saw the writing on the wall, Lou is outdated and just tired.

Its really funny how so many people see the Islanders as this plucky young team of underdogs and TO as this under-performing veteran team when the Islanders are legit one of the older teams in the NHL and have many long term high money contracts for guys in their 30's while TO is the 3rd youngest team in the NHL with zero bad contracts. Yeah Lou is the best. LOL Maybe he'll go and get Price and Weber next as well for Dobson and 3 1st rounders. Gotta get those vets with contracts that last into their 40's. Hilarious.
