If Anaheim absolutely, positively HAD to trade Josh Manson to Toronto (i.e., at the point of a gun), the minimal requirements would be Nicholas Robertson or the 2020 second plus Timothy Liljegren. And you guys can't really afford to trade either of the first two and won't trade Liljegren. We understand. As we've been saying for months, Anaheim and Toronto simply aren't good trade partners.
One of the problems with all Manson-to-Toronto proposals is that many Maple Leafs fans think that because Liljegren arguably has a higher upside potential than Manson, that means that his trade value is the same. The two things are unrelated. Right now Manson's trade value is higher than Liljegren's because Manson is a proven NHL defenseman and Liljegren is not, no matter what anybody's hopes for the future are. We have our own version of Timothy Liljegren: Jacob Larsson. He was taken in roughly the same position in the draft as Liljegren and had higher "reviews," yet no one is suggesting that Larsson is Manson's equal -- yet.
