Per Michael Russo, Pittsburgh is "one of the teams coming after Zucker hard" and they very likely ARE NOT on his NTC, so Zucker wouldn't have to waive. Arizona is also "very interested" in Zucker. Carolina has shown interest in Zucker but Russo "isn't convinced" they aren't on his NTC. Calgary wants Zucker but Russo thinks there is "zero chance that Calgary is not on his no-trade list".

Pittsburgh details at 8:23
Arizona details at 8:44
Carolina details at 8:50
Calgary details at 14:22

Russo does not believe Guerin would move Dumba despite lots of calls on him as the offers have been underwhelming. Rumored asking price is a "1st round pick, a prospect, and probably a center". Russo thinks that may open up the possibility of a Brodin trade.

Détails additionnels:
Variations of this trade have been done to death, but I think it makes a lot of sense. Wild get a solid center/wing prospect and a much needed first round pick. It's possible Pittsburgh adds slightly, but I'm high on Hallander so even though I'd welcome it I don't think it would be necessary.
PIT
  1. Zucker, Jason
Détails additionnels:
Pittsburgh gets their winger for Crosby while Guentzel is out. Zucker has shown the ability to produce next to playmakers (two years ago when he was almost permanently with Granlund and this year with Zuccarello) and Zucker would be stationed with arguably the best playmaker in the league. It would not shock me at all if he scored over 30 goals next to Crosby like he did with Granlund.

Arizona doesn't have much that fits the Wild's needs after the Hall trade. I'd love Hayton, Schmaltz, or Dvorak but I don't see them trading any of those guys in general. Maybe some sort of 3 way trade happens where Arizona flips Hall and gets Zucker with the Wild getting picks/prospects from the 3rd team.

That makes the theory @MNBassman posted earlier about Boudreau demoting Zucker to the 4th line to see how the team plays with him in a decreased role seem more plausible. I don't know much about Hallander, other than he's frequently used by Pens fans as a top prospect in trades. What type of player is he? I think Ek is more and more looking like a future Koivu, which is great.

Hallander is an extremely versatile player. He can make plays, he can score, he can skate, he brings energy, and he can defend. I think Pens fans often use him in trades since he broke his leg last fall, but as we've seen with Fiala a broken leg is no longer a career-ender. He's probably their second best prospect skill-wise (behind Addison), but the injury is nothing to ignore. I think he's worth taking a chance on, as I see a potential scoring second line center if everything works out for him. He was over half a PPG in the SHL as a 19 year old prior to injury which is pretty impressive IMO.

Listening to what you linked (thanks for that, by the way), it seems that there are a few factors that might be driving down Zucker's value. Teams like Calgary and Carolina might want him but it appears that they are on his NTC. He's in a fourth line role now and it's clear that someone needs to be moved to make room.

If I were a wild fan, I wouldn't be too optimistic about the return here.

I also like Hallander, though I have read he projects in the NHL more as a LW. I think it's worth seeing if he has can play center in the NHL, not really the worst case scenario if Wild end up with a very good wing on there hands.
As far as the Coyotes are concerned I agree it would take a 3rd team since I don't believe they have much to offer the Wild.

Hallander is our best forward prospect, but Poulin has made him available. His broken leg sort of put him behind a few players, but in terms of skill and 200 ft game he is a high quality prospect. He is also currently playing in the adult pro league, so his numbers won't be as high compared to some prospects who are just dummying up the CHL

I tend to ignore points, because they rarely tell the whole story. As you said, the CHL is full of guys who score a ton of points and many of them never make it to the NHL.

That's true, but also keep in mind they don't HAVE to move him. If the offer isn't fair, they can move a guy like Donato or Greenway instead. I don't expect a huge return, but I think the 1st round pick and Hallander return seems reasonably for him.

They don't have to move him, so that is true, but also his value right now isn't very high. I think if it is a 1st and Hallander Guerin absolutely pulls the trigger. That is great value.

I think that's fair. There could be other pieces involved depending on cap needs for the Pens, but that should be what the deal is built around imo.

With the playoffs in sight I’d probably want to get Galchenyuk back too just to fill a current spot for the rest of this season.

Only if they plan on trading his rights for a (probably a 3rd or 4th) pick this summer...

Great discussion and great information here!

I’ve been convinced - Zucker for Hallander and their 2020 1st...plus necessary cap dump/s.

I’m saying ask for Hallander, Galchenyuk and a 1st and possibly throw in a 7th with Zucker. If they say no to that then just take Hallander and a 1st. Seems 95% of Wild fans agree this is the guy we want
