Description
Alright Hawks fans. I honestly want to get a pulse check on how were feeling about our team right now. We're 100% in LAST place in the central. @tycam just wrote a nice article about the TDL goalie market. He ended it with that he was concerned about the message to the team. I 100% respect his opinion. I think he brings up good points. I read his articles. All of them. I however disagree with quite honestly even caring about the messaging. Toews has 0 points in two game...My favorite player since I've been born including Chelly and Daze. Kane has 0 points too. We keep giving credit for solid efforts...and I'm really starting the HATE that. They keep losing. This is a results business. Tell Toews and Kane to their freakin face that THEY haven't been good enough lately. AGAIN I love watching those guys, but we can't just accept LAST PLACE in the central as good enough. It blows my mind that we're talking about messaging when WE'RE IN LAST PLACE. LAST PLACE. Jesus! Trade the pending UFA's because...you know what's about to come...WE'RE IN LAST PLACE IN THE CENTRAL!!!!

We win one game and we're 4th in the division. If the Hawks win out on this Canada trip, they're going to be in a wildcard spot. That's a big if, though; Vancouver and maybe Edmontom are the only teams they can drop points to.

I'd try and enjoy these next few games because it's either going to be:
the last meaningful stretch of games this season,
or
it'll be the season-defining run CHI needs to go on to have more meaningful hockey in the near future.

By points percentage, which is what people should be using to account for GP differences, we are tied for 5th with the Wild. I'm not saying that we are in a good position, but this road trip should define the season. If they go under .500 in the next five games, Bowman should go into sell mode and join the lottery chase. If we hit a hot streak, see if there's a good deal to be had on the market without selling future assets and try to sneak into a playoff spot.

We'll see what happens, but, no matter what happens this season, if Erik Gustafsson is on this team after February 24th I will burn down the UC myself.

@Roviet_Sussia @Petrock83 im not trying to pick apart your analysis. I agree with you guys. The other wild card bubble teams have cup cake schedules. YES the Hawks can still control their destiny to a certain point by winning. I just want us all to make good decisions at the TDL. Not emotional decisions. And yes...clearly this was a little venting.

If we're out of it, do you think we should trade both goalies?

I would. Part of developing players is giving them ice time. KL deserves some NHL ice time. You don’t get much lower than last place in the central.

Honestly the race is so tight we probably wont know if we're in the playoffs until the final few games of the season. I'm totally split on what the team should do not sure if its a good idea to do anything if we just end up missing anyway and not a good idea to just stand pat if we can get value from Gus and Lehner.

I think the only way we do this is if we think Delia or Lankinen is a future starter, which just isn't the case. Helping both of those guys develop is important, but leaving a hole for the future seems like a very bad idea to me.

I think that if we do not buy, we should sell. Im confident that we could make the playoffs if we made some moves, but standing pat is the wrong answer. I don't think we should trade both goalies. Crow would love to stay here but only if hes a starter. Lehner would love to stay here but only if he gets paid. We could get more for either of them than you have in the trades, but Im guessing this was more of a discussion thread. I also believe we should move Gus because I dont want to re-sign him but I dont want to lose him for nothing... its very complicated this year, as a high draft pick would go a long way in establishing our future core, but making the playoffs would be huge for our young guys
