What Tatar to Edmonton Might look like

Description
Montreal thinks injuries derailed their season this year, which is true to an extent- and they want to remain competitive next year. So no selling off assets for picks and prospects that won’t be ready for a couple years. If the oilers want Tatar, which has been reported, they’ll have to make a hockey trade.

The big thing for Edmonton here is now that they have another legitimate top winger in their team, they are able to get Mcdavid Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins down the middle and run 3 great lines. Suddenly the offense goes from average to really good in one trade.
Transactions
1.
MTL
  1. Nurse, Darnell
  2. Puljujärvi, Jesse [Liste de réserve]
Détails additionnels:
1 for 1 really entices me. But with the year Tatar is having, I don’t think this deal gets done if it’s just Nurse on Edmonton’s side. Puljujarvi is a piece 99% of the league has been rumoured to be in on, and there is no doubt a spot for him in the top 6 when Tatar gets traded. He can play as soon as next year, too, so there’s no problem on Montreal’s side if Edmonton adds JP as a sweetener. It’s a pretty expensive sweetener though, and Edmonton will want a D man back in the deal. With the Canadiens acquiring Nurse, they no longer need Juulsen in the system, as it would be too crowded and juulsen would never get a spot on the Canadiens when Romanov, Fleury, Mete, are all young guys going to be up there ahead of him

If Tatar to EDM --> pick(s) + prospect
If Nurse to MTL --> Domi

I think that makes more sense

Edmonton isn’t trading Nurse in season. I also wouldn’t want to trade him for a player that’s UFA in a year.

Yes this only works if Tatar prematurely agrees to an extension, or this could also become a sign + trade

I cant imagine any playoff team is going to part with a top pair dman who they cant replace for a winger like tatar. Dont get me wrong hes a nice piece but nkt for nurse straight up.

Oh boy the big long explanation made me laugh, like I get the Oilers could really use a top 6 winger and I'm a big Tatar fan but there's no way the Oilers are gonna trade a young top 4 dman who's an RFA that they could extend for a long time for 1.5 seasons of a 29 year old winger and then thinking the Oilers need to add yet, get real!

I just don't think GM's are that dumb anymore to be dealing a guy who they have control of for someone they won't have much control of plus if they trade Nurse now that would really take a huge hit out of their defense core, who's stepping up to replace Nurse, Russell?? lol

An RFA dman like Nurse for a top 6 RFA winger makes sense, what's proposed here doesn't.

I wouldn’t trade for Juulsen. Unfortunately his head injuries are a major problem, and the only people that know what’s going on is Montreal’s doctors. It really pains me to say this, but I think his career is near over.

The prospect there could be replaced by a 2nd round pick or a prospect of that calibre

I don’t like the thought of Benning as a top pairing Defender. He’s shown previously that he doesn’t do well in that spot. Keep him on bottom pairing.
Move Larsson up with Klefbom. And put Russel on left side 2nd or 3rd pairing.
