Do you know by doing this next year we will be at the bottom of the league with Price and Weber over 32........
VAN would not trade a 3rd round pick for Scandella who is UFA this year.
Pittsburgh does not have the cap to sign Gallagher next year and didn't your learn that Galchenyuk is not a good fit in MTL.
Even if you retain salary Toronto is in cap hell. They simply do not have the cap space for Petry AND Brodie.
Edmonton has a very good top 6 now. They need defense. It would make no sense to trade Nurse.
I doubt Tatar is worth Brodie, a first and a second.

I don't really care about Weber's and Price's age. They hold all the cards when it comes to trades (with Bergevin in charge). If we rebuild properly, for once, they can ask for a trade.
Send Scandella to whoever for whatever, or don't, doesn't really matter.
I don't really care how Galchenyuk does in Montreal in this scenario. He is likely KHL bound.
Pittsburgh can either find room to sign Gallagher over the next two years, or they can just accept they have two playoff runs with a super cheap 30g RW.
Petry and Brodie with the 50% retained combined make less than Ceci, the math is there. Muzzin, Barrie and Brodie are all UFA, so they can figure out their own future. They have Anderson in his prime, and a team that's as good as its going to get, this is their year.
Edmonton, I see rumours they need offense and that they are willing to deal Nurse. If this is incorrect, deal Drouin elsewhere for a similar package. I don't know all 31 teams needs or excess depth.
A year and a half of Tatar at $2.4M is worth Brodie (UFA at $4.6M) and a low 1st and 2nd. Find another player with 101 points in his last 129 games for less if you want.

IF Chucky is KHL bound... why trade for him? makes no sense, Why would we trade Gally for him? our only 30 goal scorer whose the heart of the team and Defacto captain. we have plenty of space to sign him.

Why trade two good dman to our arch-enemy in TOR... for an underwelming Prospect and a **** defender and a high first... we are not in this league to help the leafs... let them die with their cap problem.

The team is not a dead carcass to be picked clean by vultures.

Galchenyuk was a cap dump.
Gallagher is going to get a huge raise after next season, and his style of play makes that idea extremely risky to go long term, which is exactly what Montreal will do.
Havent heard Bracco as being underwhelming, heard he is being kept down due to the numbers game in Toronto. Ceci, again a cap dump. 2021 First, who knows what it will be (ie. Sens pick in 2019, Sharks pick in 2020), and 2 second round picks. They will still have a cap problem, we aren't letting them off the hook, Ceci is UFA. We are also getting 4 longterm assets from our "Arch-enemy" for their chance to win the Cup in a year we aren't competing...

I traded players we can't afford to re-sign 2021 summer. I didn't gut the Habs of their core (or even Weber and Price).

Dude - Brodie would most probably fetch a 2nd at the TDL from a contender - so your value for Tatar is a first and 2 seconds??? Prepare to be disappointed if those are your aspirations!

Montreal is in no position to have to trade Tatar. They are also eating half his salary for next year as well. 101 points in 130 games with Montreal.

Maybe Calgary doesn't want him for that much, but a late 1st + 2nd plus their defenseman who is a UFA doesn't seem like all that much all things considered. If Montreal can't fetch that much, I guess we will be forced to keep our leading scorer for another year...
