I don't think the Toffoli trade makes sense. Trading away a good looking d-prospect in Harris for a rental to play on the fourth line would not be a good move especially since our playoff hopes are slim right now.

Well that's not true. I think the LA/TOR trade is good for both teams. LA gets a young player and picks to help with a rebuild and Tor gets what they need in a little bit of sandpaper in the bottom 6 and much needed goalie depth

Lines after
I think peohling will be sent down once everyone is healthy, he only had around 8 minutes last game. he is better off player bigger minutes in a playoff push for Laval
My line would be
Tatar-Danault-Gally
Lehky-Domi-Drouin
Kovy-Suzuki-Armia
Cousins-Thompson-Byron

Well I guess we will have to wait and see, in my opinion the way he is playing makes him, to Montreal not necessarily to other teams worth more than a fourth rounder, I would like to see MTL keep him and try to give him a one year deal unless somebody gets desperate and decides to overpay

Maybe you shouldn't be making comments about how he has zero legs left in him without seeing how he's been playing the past month

A fourth round pick has a REALLY low chance of becoming an impact NHLer in the future, so what's the point in trading him when he's bringing excitement to MTL games, and I disagree with your statement that he has zero legs left in him, he has looked pretty motivated in his games with the Habs so far

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Old_Snowman</b></div><div>Rumors are called rumors for a reason. You're not getting a 2nd for a 36 year old UFA winger. That's a pipedream. The most you'll get is a 3rd, likely a 4th. Keep him then. Montreal is missing the playoffs and he's going to look for a pay raise next year. You can sign him to a higher salary and watch him ghost as he's always done once the money comes.</div></div>
Never said we were going to get a second for him, just that there's no need to ship him out for a 4th rounder, MTL already has a lot of picks in this draft and a fourth will not entice them into getting rid of Kovalchuk

Completely agree with above, if a fourth round pick is all they can get they will happily keep him for the rest of the season and probably try to resign him in. He is becoming a fan favourite in MTL so no need to move him if that's the best return

I think if montreal doesn't turn it around somehow (unlikely). You could add guys like Petry, Kovalchuk, Thompson, Cousins to this list. Not sure if they'll move but definitely a chance.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Only if you look at him from a right now perspective. Will he be as good next year? Not likely, how about in 2 years? Or 3 years? He has 5 more years of term after this one and is already 34. He's going to decline, there is no way around it and he won't be worth his contract. That makes him untradeable. Price is in a similar boat, as is Bob in Florida. We all know players are going to decline in their 30's and when they have massive cap hits and massive term, it cuts their value to almost nothing. Weber for any success he is having this season, can't get traded to TO. They would have to move out a high price young player who provides extremely more value than Weber. End of discussion.</div></div>
Good thing we don't want to trade him to TO, never said I did. Pretty sure this is a leafs thread suggesting trading for Weber, don't think you'll find a Habs fan that wants to trade him to the leafs.

He would not being playing this much on any playoff team so I doubt a team would trade a roster player + for him.</div></div>
Other teams were hesitant to take him on because of concerns on declining production, he is proving people wrong with this stint in Montreal. I wouldn't not be shocked if MTL were to get a second for him at the deadline. If this is the best offer, a fourth liner and a 7th, MTL will be more than happy to hang on to him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Honestly just sound like bias Leafs fans. Weber is in Norris conversations this year and is exactly the player Toronto needs, a player teams hate playing against.
His contract is an arguement that I have heard endlessly and honestly, its ridiculously over exaggerated.
He gets hurt, goes on LTIR and costs nothing
He wants to retire? Send him to Nashville for a kings ransome.
Declines in play? Trade him to the cheap owner wanting to reach the cap floor but only pay $1 million bucks.
Until any of those things happen though you get a stud top 4 dmen with 40+ points a year, one of the best leaders in the game and a dman who can teach your young score.
So ya, right now if Toronto wanted Weber it would be for a premium.
And it would be a move that would make Toronto cup favorites for the duration of Marners and Mathews tenure as Leafs until they leave in free agency at the end of thier current contracts.</div></div>
Completely agree, I don't understand why people seem to think if the only way MTL could trade Weber is for scraps. He still has lots of value

Nothing, if he retires before his contract is over with any team other than Nashville, Nashville would be hit with the recapture penalties. Just look at Roberto Luongo to a lesser extent, Vancouver is being punished cap wise right now

Weber on the other hand has a less than ideal contract. You do get an amazing player but who wants to foot the recapture penalties when those final years approach? Not many.</div></div>
The only team that has to worry about the recapture penalties is Nashville.

I don't think Montreal has any room to talk about cap space. TO is up against the cap after paying star players star player money. That isn't a problem.</div></div>
You don't see a problem with having that much money locked into three forwards. If you wanna see your problem look at your d-core and the fact that you are going to miss the playoff with Matthews, Marner and Tavares.
