Nylander, but apparently that's a non starter. If EK was up for consideration, minus his horrendous contract, nobody would say that's a bad deal. Tony DeAngelo is better than EK right now and will likely be from here on out.

If you want your D to play better defense, then you build a better system or hire a new coach for it and focus on that. You want your players to be gifted. And the leafs currently pose no threats from the blue line.

Leafs need a Defensive D. They already have Rielly (out) and Barrie as offensive D. Muzzin can perform to. They probably need someone like Chiarot, Martinez, Savard, Nemeth or Brodin.

I get the need for defensive defenseman, bt wouldnt it be better, in theory, to have a defenseman who maintains possession at a high rate then someone who stops a cycle but then just chips the puck out and lose possession? the best defense is a good offense, IMO. thats just a theory though

Dude, he’s not better than EK.

Its simple, DeAngelo is a powerplay QB defenseman who isnt very great in his own zone. He is an RFA and will demand a huge raise next year. As revealed in the Florida and Edmonton games, Toronto has massive holes in their own zone when facing other offensively skilled teams and cant always rely on Andersen to bail them out. The answer isnt to add more potential scoring.
If a bucket has a hole in it the answer isn't to poor the water faster, its to patch it.
