I think MTL could actually use Johansen but it makes no sense for them to take Bonino too. They already have good center depth.

It is just to clean some salary bust in Nashville and we have room to make it happen.
We could simply trade out Byron or even Bonino back to a contender team in March... but between you and I... Bonino is still better than Cousin Weise or even Weal that plays 15min last night huff

Agreed 100%, but Cousin/Weise/Weal are all 4th liners when we are healthy.

I'm against the Habs trading futures for players who won't even help us. You think if we get a top 6 forward or a top 4 defender, we are magically going to be a stanley cup contender. We do that trade, and then get swept and you are crying about how bad MB and GM are, No winning for you.

So MTL's 1RD and (if a trade for a C to push Domi to wing occured) 4LW, for a 2C (who would stay 2C in MTL based on how Danault has been playing) and a more expensive 4LW? Did you forget to add a sweetener going to MTL, do you feel the age difference compensates, are you expecting Danault to drop off, any or all, something else?

Swip Line 1 vs 2 no problem, anyway Coach Julien don't even send Danault on the first PP unit... so he will continue to ga against the 1st opposite line...
Line 1 & 2 will get +/- 20min plays... and yes Bonino is the age difference.

Isn't Weber signed till he's 40? lol

Even if Johanson is an overpaid 2C he's signed in his prime and there probably wouldn't be much decline in his play, this would be pretty good for Montreal, doubt the Preds do it though.

Not seeing the point of this for MTL, or NSH for that matter (they don't need a RD although getting the recapture penalty down while Weber is outscoring Johansen might appeal to them). MTL isn't gaining in this deal, the difference in pts between what they are giving up vs what they are getting is about .05pts/gm, or 4 pts over a full season, and they are getting worse defensively.

Some are saying no Thanks in MTL... I just think Smashville missed their capt America... and Mtl could use more forward punch

Weber is signed until he's 40, and if he retires before that (say in one of his final 3 seasons when he makes a combined 3 million) Nashville pays more than his current cap hit in recapture penalties for the seasons that he would have been playing. Those penalties go down if Nashville reacquires him now, since his salary is lower than his cap hit, and he still has a few good years while that happens.
Johansen, right now, is looking like a 55ish point C making 8 million until he is 33. That's not a contract I love either, but if it goes it's gone from Nashville's books.
Overall, if Nashville felt confident that they could get 2 seasons of Weber putting up around 45-50 points, and they don't expect Johansen to hit high 60's again, this isn't a bad deal for them with the cap recapture hanging over their future. Nashville is most likely taking cap from Weber's contract once he falls off the cliff, the only question is how much, and this helps lower that number and hopefully gets them a few productive years from him at the same time.

Yup I get it and I think it kind of works for both teams really, the Habs would be kind of lost without Weber but if they see growth coming from their young RHD like Fleury and Petry can hold down the fort then maybe it's worth it to them.

Honestly I would call up Juulsen if Weber got traded, if only to see if he can play like he did the last few seasons while Weber was hurt.
This trade isn't getting Weber though. Removing the wash of Lehkonen for Bonino, this is a 50 point RD having a career year who should have another 2 seasons of solid offensive play left in him, for a 55-60 point C who likely has about 3 solid offensive seasons left in him (based off of overall talent, play style, current performance, etc.) That's not a trade I would make, especially not with a team who, assuming Weber's play drops off and he retires when his salary drops to 1 mil/season, would be saving 3 million in cap space during those seasons by acquiring Weber this coming off season. Retention on Johansen, a decent pick, or a really good pick with conditions are some of the things that would make it worth while for MTL but I'm not sure NSH would want to do that.

I think it is fair like this as Mtl doesn't have many TOPC / Top6 at 6'3''... I think Domi and Drouin playing with this type of guy would become better player like 70pts guy season after season

Weber for Johansen is fair, what NSH need to pay for is the cap relief they will get by having Weber on the roster if he does retire early. MTL has no reason to trade Weber for a 2C, 3C in terms of pure point production which is what MTL needs to add up front, (who is also currently doing worse than Weber offensively) right now, even if it is a fair deal. So why would they not only do it but provide extra value in cap relief to the team they are trading with? And Lehkonen for Bonino is a wash, minimal offensive upgrade at 4LW for a loss in defensive play at the same.
