Even if we could open up enough space to get Hall extended, I'd rather have the next 8 years of Thomas and Dunn than the next 8 years of Hall. This is way, way too much to give up for a UFA. I don't think STL's GM would ever discuss those guys in Hall talks - he wouldn't move them for like 5 years of ROR. They're already big contributors to the team.

This is a big over payment. Dunn is a true top 4 dman and Thomas looks like he will be a high end 2c, that's far to much for a rental. Kyrou can probaby be traded away without missing much, Kostin maybe but dont think the two in this trade are close to being traded.

The best prospect we gave up for Ryan O'Reilly, who was a center and had five years left on his contract, was Tage Thompson. What makes you think we'd give up Robert Thomas, who is comparable age-wise but is already miles ahead better than Thompson, for a guy who has four months left on his contract?

But no you're right, I'm sorry, Thomas isn't nearly enough, we'd better throw in our best LHD and why not downgrade in goal while we're at it.
