But there must be some musical analysis if you want to critique someone’s performance. For example, maybe you disliked his timbre or felt he lacked musical expression through dynamics. Perhaps his melodic phrasing was poor? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if you want to critique you must provide specific evidence. I am a student currently enrolled in the conservatory, but I cannot take anyone seriously if they just tell me that I’m trash and don’t know how to play without being able to further expand on that opinion.
