Yes, I think the Leafs defence is shaky. Not better than last year. (on paper) But don't know if the sixth man from Dallas is any better than Leafs sixth guy. Leafs are probably happy with Barrie, Reilly, Muzzin and Dermot. Can the rest Ceci, or Sandin or Marincin or wherever be NHL competent? But a number there teams asking the same questions.

Hyman is literally the most likely trade candidate on the Leafs.... Kapanen can easily replace Hyman on that line. He is faster, more skilled and still has grit.

??? It isn't 2.25m off the books, he still has to replaced in the lineup. Hyman 20 goal scorer without any PP is a bargain at 2.25m. So you replace Hyman with Kapanen, who replaces Kapanen.?

Bracco when the Leafs re-sign him for 925k next year. About 1.3 mill in savings.. Thats huge for the Leafs with their cap situation. I'm not saying they should do it 100%, but he is the first trade candidate for sure. I like Hyman a lot, but geeze.. Pump his tires much? His points are because of his linemates.

Maybe his linemates get points because of Hyman. 20 goals without any PP time. Who were is line mates last year? Mostly Kapanen on the RW...(check his stats...similar to Hyman) and Matthews when he wasn't injured Somehow a 20 goal scorer is fine 2nd liner without any other team in the NHL. but with Hyman seem somehow seemed to be an after thought as their 1st or 2nd best LWer on the Leafs .
I've been optimistic about Bracco as a future Leaf, but after this pre season, I wonder if he is ever going to be an NHLer.

Agree to disagree man.. Marner put the puck on a platter for Hyman many many times. Also, people forget that 6 of those goals were empty netters. I like Hyman, a lot. I also liked Connor Brown, but he is expendable. Lets not pretend that Hyman is the offensive catalyst on that line. Come on...

Bracco I thought looked decent in preseason. Decent enough that I think he can make the team and be an effective 3rd liner next year.
