The people saying the value is about right are completely ignoring Suter is still an effective top pairing guy, so the Wild wouldn't want to trade him even if he was willing to waive his NMC. His contract has a chance of getting ugly if he ends up being a $7.5m third pairing guy, but it also has a chance of him ending up on LTIR and not being an issue or being $1m real cash for a $7.5m cap hit to help a budget team hit the floor if he's done playing. There's no reason for the Wild to retain any money or get back a bunch of pieces as a return.
