Why make the trade?
I’m a huge leafs fan, at this point I don’t see a sustainable roster. We can’t carry an extra forward and d-man. That’s not a great recipe for success

There is no rush to make a trade until Hyman is ready to come back. Maybe someone else will be on LTIR by then giving more time to figure out what is the best route to go.

That’s true and I’m 100% aware of that but as this site is all hypothetical feels free to comment on the the trade as it’s just as likely no one else is injured

The good news is that we don't have to make a trade at all. It all fits with a 21 man roster.

Thanks random 2152, a 21 man roster is not ideal, and as I said I don’t think the trade is fair I’m looking for suggestions to even the trade and gain space.
21 man rosters leaves only 1 spare. On road trips 1 extra forward and 1 d man is more ideal

Two NHLers for one NHLer. How is this good for the Leafs? Rather have the 4.5m cap space with Ceci's expiring contract that Murphy's 3.85m for four years.
We're getting to this ridiculous posts on this site, where Leafs Dmen or so bad, but other Dmen...especially RHD are soooooo great .

Ideal? Maybe. But worth losing a trade over? Not at all. MLSE has the resources to make it work so I'd need to see a very fair offer to even consider it.
