insane mismanagement. look at your current roster right now, and they cannot compete against tampa. look 2-3 years down the road, with cap going up, you still have very little cap space to sign rielly and other players to improve the backend, unless u trade nylander etc. half of ur cap is being spent on 4 players who have won you 0 playoff rounds. that is mismanagement. on top of that, your weak gm gave into nylanders demand and than marners, thereby upsetting the whole rfa market.

I'll disagree. So Marner is overpaid. If Flames, Jets or the other teams don't come close to succumbing to the contracts demands of their RFAs, what can the unsigned RFAs do? There is no other NHL teams offering money they want. Are they not going to play in the NHL this season? Let's imagine Point is worth 10m, doesn't really matter is Marner signed for 8m or 13m. Only so much money the Lightning or other teams can/will offer him.
Leafs going with 21 man roster....screwing two players out of the NHL experience and 900,000 each and forcing these players into the AHL at 70,000. Those two players get screwed.

At Leafs know their cap this year and pretty well much in the following few years. Other teams haven't settled for this year. Next year Tampa has all those untradeable NTC players and Valisleski getting a 6m raise along with their other RFAs

I think TML fans who think what Marner signed is going to be an impact on everyone else are going to be disappointed.
I agree Tkachuk is about 8.5. CGY will be fine. Marner got his number worked out on TML cap structure. Other players will be in the same boat.
The only player that might be effected is Point, Who should be the one RFA signing the biggest deal this year. But that was always going to be a mess because he earned it more than anyone.

Are teams or players screwed? Wouldn't be surprised if players get left out of contracts, and the NHLPA decides to not honour the current deal. Just be course for another lock out.
