That is of course something the Caps would be happy to help with, and it doesn't seem like it should be a problem, but I'm concerned you might have mis-spelled Shumakov.

They are about the same tier of player, Anderson has one year left on his contract then will want to be paid like Wilson. Wilson is a great lockerroom guy and is a future captain of the team.

I think probably clear the board and counter with Anderson for Hagelin, Djoos, Boyd, and a 3rd. Definitely interested in the Blue Jackets' 3R, but probably not at a cost of the Caps' 1R. Interesting idea though. Thank you for sharing it with us!

eta: could also make that same offer for Jenner. Not picky. smile

Hagelin just re-signed to a four year deal. There's no way the Caps are trading him.

Yeah. Good save. Guess it's not gonna happen right now. Thanks, though.

I do think the Caps would LOVE to add a guy like Anderson, who scores a whole bunch of goals at such a low cap hit, but they'll have to wait until the deadline and see if Columbus is still in the chase, to get the kind of trade that would improve the Caps' immediate Cup odds, by just building a rental deal around picks and prospects, rather than losing a young, top line forward..... I think right now Washington would be thrilled to offer something like, Stephenson, Copley, and a 2nd, but if CBJ is happy with Merzlikens or whatever washes in on the waiver wire at backup, they might not go for that--Copley just signed an extension, also, but the writing is on the wall with the cap situation, and he signed knowing he could be passed by Vanecek or Samsonov at any time--and speaking of the cap situation, Columbus would have to retain on Anderson for even that to work. smile

I could also see some advantages for each side in Oshie for Anderson (plus a B+ forward prospect, say), but CBJ probably wants to stay younger, and I don't know anything about Oshie's NTC. Oshie plays both special teams, does great in shootouts, is an Olypic hero, and has six straight years (and 8 of the last ten) putting up at least as many points as Anderson's career high, but obviously age and cap hit make up for most of that in terms of trade value.
