Letang.. by very big margin.

Letang seems like the obvious choice here, but god is he terrible. Give me Johnson, better stay at home type

in terms of offensive ability sure but defensively i think johnson is far superior. I think letang is overrated in regards to that aspect of his game. He has had 2 very elite goalies in murray and flower behind him to stop alot of the bleeding where johnson has had varly for his entire career. BIIIIIG difference in netminders. guarantee if they swapped teams you would be saying johnson right now instead of letang.

They gave up nearly the same amount of chances per 60 at 5v5 last season. Difference is Letang creates significantly more offense.

I cant speak for Johnson cause I don't watch him play enough, but in the first round, Letang was brutal. I guess I'm just partial

I disagree. While Johnson is purely defensive defenseman, Letang is elite offensively and good defensively. He can hold his own for sure. Letang is one of the best defensemen of the decade and Johnson is not even the best defenseman on his team. There is huge difference between those two.

It's close, and those who are saying that EJ is purely a defensive defenceman, you ain't ever seen 'The Condor' fly then. It's simply the role he's been asked to play to allow Girard to move up more. He's a two way guy who has had weaker goalies behind him, generally weaker D partners, and played on weaker teams as a whole. So as a two way guy I'm taking EJ over KL. That's not saying Letang isn't good but it's kinda like my feelings about Tyson Barrie.......I like my D to be able to play D first and foremost, so this is said pretty much without bias.

Who do you believe is the best D on the Avs then? Cole, Girard, Makar, Zadorov, Connauton, Graves or Barberio as they're the ones listed on the roster?

Based on last season girard, he was great in transition, defensively and play big minutes for a young 21 year old dude he was playing like a veteran d

Have to agree to disagree there. I'm not disagreeing on the fact he was really good. It's also the fact that EJ is so quietly good that ppl sometimes don't notice how much space Girard was getting to play because of him.

It’s sure is bias, you are a av’s fan ??! Letangs game on 5 on 5 is up there with all the beat d in the game. He doesn’t game all the credit he get’s because he will Always be in crosby and malkin shadow. Defensively is metric number are better than johnson. Letangs have 76 giveaways and 63 takeaways that really good for a puck moving defenseman, johnson add 41 giveaways and 31 takeaways. Personally its your choice, we all
Have preferences over some players, but on paper letang beat johnson on almost everything.

You know that johnson maybe add a great season because he played with sam girard and not the reversed. Good players make players around look better. Im not saying EJ isnt good
But playing with top defenseman help him as well. Girard is so much quicker on transition. The puck doesn’t stay in their own zone the long when he is on ice
