Assuming the same structure as the Aho deal. Yes, Melnyk would hate it, but they would match. Ottawa's actual player salary for this upcoming season is so unbelievably low. What they saved this year they could put towards matching that offer

I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere the Sens are saving something like $20Mill this year based on players signing bonuses already paid and injury reserve players that get their contracts paid by insurance. If so the Sens will be saving enough this year in cash to give to Chabot upfront

Sens are cutting costs because they have no cash.....they have the smallest management team, the smallest scouting team in the NHL....
