You're bringing in some pretty lack luster players, makar and girard will be nhl players this year, they've already gotten their shot and proved they are legit.

They just signed bellemare in the offseason indoubt they trade him now, when jost will fall to that 3c spot at some point, not to mention that's better than the package that clb paid for duchene, JPG is nowhere near a duchene.

Jake Gardiner is a curse, he will probably sign for less, he cant play defense on a team that has plenty of OFD, and word on the street is he's going to buffalo or Toronto depending on risto trade or marner contract

they were one ticky tacky offside goal taken away from going to the West Finals. I think they are just as talented of a team offensively this year compared to last year but are harder to play against by adding guys like Kadri, donskoi, Bellemare.

All depends on Grubauer, if he is legit as he was the 2nd half of the season and the playoffs, this team should be contending to try to win the Division and West Finals.

For me its more just giving that young defence time to get used to the rigors of a full NHL season and playoff run. Makar is a stud but hasn't played this many games in a season before, especially if he gets top pair minutes against top lines it will be a tol

Makar will eventually get tehre, I do agree with you there, losing Barries offense will hurt, but not even kidding when Avs fans say Makar is already better defensively than Barrie, and he will surprise a lot with how psychical he plays. Just a full regular season will wear on him, so for me its Girard and Zads, they need to take a step forward as well so it offsets Makars, what will be an up and down season like all rookies have

That's why I said 2 years, by then Makar will be what you want him to be and Byram will making his jump to complete probably the best defence I the league and start being talked about as perennial contenders.

If Girard and Zads take the step this year, I still think they are an easy bet to win the division. I dont think they are 2 seasons out from being the top dog, if they arent in the West Finals at a minimum by the 2021-22 season then there are some big issues still with the team, and that would be a major disappointment not living up to their potential thats currently on the roster
