Value-wise the OTT trade is ok, but I don't see Laine signing with OTT due to the fact that with Melnyk he's getting either peanuts or nothing.

Ottawa shouldn't be wasting good assets making high cost trade. Use that cap space (next year) to sign a UFA...
I've thought that Ottawa should take some moderately priced veterans to help them this year. Jets need cap, give Perrault and/or Kulivov to the Sens.

Sens aren't going to want to pay him, and those assets could be put to better use for the rebuild. White in particular is in the long term future for Ottawa.

IF OTT had a real owner they would think about it hard and pay Laine, but with Melnyk, no way in hell they would trade for player asking 8m+ and most likely with Signing bonuses, hell they will trade Chabot before July 1st 2020 because of this and Brady twill traded the following year (if melnyk still owner) as both Chabot and Brady will want Aho type contracts.
