The question should be "Would you trade Horvat straight up for Nylander" and the answer is no.

Would you trade Willy for Alex Nylander straight up, is a better question. Save 6 million dollars for the Leafs. I'm sure Alex could put 40-50 points up riding Matthews coat tails like Willy has done the past 3 years.

I just looked it up, both Nylander's were drafted 8th Overall 2 years apart. Alex may never become a full time NHLer. Kind of like the Statsny kids, Paul has a good career but not Yan. Or the Reinhart kid's, only Sam is a NHLer.

Did you happen to watch Nylander's performance in the World Championships a couple of years ago. When he plays to his potential he is an elite, elite , elite hockey player. Horvat is a hard working hockey player but I do not consider him an elite, elite hockey player.

Leaf fans sure bank in that one World Championship performance a lot. I would take a guy who works hard night in night out, you know what you’re getting, can play in his own end over a diva who possibly puts up more points, depending on who he is playing with and how he’s feeling. If I’m building a team it’s around Horvat opposed to Nylander 7 days a week. And then to have him on a much better contract is just icing on the cake. And as a Flames fan, trust me I’m not a fan of Horvat, I’d say I’m a way bigger fan of the Leafs than the Canucks. And to add to this, you’ve made a post looking at acquiring Horvat on a team that is already flush at C so one could argue that you think Horvat would be a better winger than Nylander.
