eugene melynyk: I don;'t want to pay Erik Karlsson, Mark Stone or Ryan Dzingel
also eugene melynyk: Lets overpay Marner in an offersheet even though he won't sign it because our organization is a complete embaressment

Eugene Melynk is easily the worst owner in the NHL and the 2nd worst owner in all of sports.....

To be fair tho, Marner wants 11M/year so this isn't completely inaccurate and Toronto doesn't have the cap space to keep him because Kyle Dubas is a moron. And no one else the cap space for Mitch or wants to pay him that much money. The only organization that has the cap space to get him and needs someone his caliber is the Ottawa Senators.

Are we watching a differnet offseason? Calling Dubas a moron = saying Melnyk is the BEST owner in tje league.

Realizing Marner isn't worth $11 million makes him smart. The Kadri deal is flat out brilliant. The Zaitsev deal is legendary (dumping 3 years of Zaitsev for one of Ceci.) ?????. Yeah. He is shades of Stellick alright.... wait - have you heard of Gord Stellick?

You maybe a newbie, but get your head examined.

Moron GM: Peter Chiarelli. That's the standard.

I think this would be a new record for the number of picks moved in one off-season by one team. WOW!

Also... as a Flames fan that is a lot of money and term for Rittich who hasn't really proved he is a starter in the league. My guess is he comes in somewhere around $3 million for 2 years on his next contract.

Why 3 goalies? And at those cap hits? That's over $14 M tied up in goal-tending, also probably the highest in the league.

Toronto still has Nylander's bloated contract as he didn't do jack in the 2018-2019 season. Having 36-year-old Ron Hainsey in the Top 4 D during most of the 2018-2019 season is ridiculous. Unless they trade away/buyout someone with a big cap hit, they're probably not going to get Marner back. And they had one of the best offenses in the NHL (#1 offense has to TBL), yet they lost in the first round (again) by the Boston Bruins (again), and lost in Game 7 (again). By the way, I called Melynk the worst owner in the league, not the best. And Steve Yzerman is a better GM. But, to be honest, I will admit the Kadri trade was genius and a 10,000 IQ moment for Dubas.

1. The BEST offense in the NHL was SWEPT by the Jackets! SWEPT! And asses handed to them too. So going 7 against the Conerence Champ isn't a knock at all. Good argument lol.

2. Any player that misses camp is doomed for the year. Revisit the Nylander contract after this season. All I can say.

3. Your valuation of Marner now needs statistical and analytical proof. If have written so much on this, and been part of far more fruitful discussions on what that contract should look like.

So, if you think Marner is worth $11 a year, show me comparables, Corsi, Fenwick etc. Prove it. Stack it up brah. Then look at Sebastien Aho. Compare him to Marner. Then try to convince me Marner is $11 million.

We don't exactly have a need to spend that many picks on Anderson. Not unless things go really badly with Merzlikins and/or Vehvilainen, and even then there's other options we'd likely look at first.
