Honestly, as a hawks fan, I take this trade. Only this thing I may ask to remove is beaudin, maybe replace him with Gustafsson is the canadiens would go for it. We don’t need scoring, so dach, perlini, and Gustafsson would be fine by me to sacrifice for ridding us of seabrook.

You would be "ok" as a fan to let go Dach just like that...!? Plus your division is very very stacked (every team can make the playoff) so the 1st pick could in the lottery. The only thing is that Marc needs to win now (otherwise he will be fire sooner than later).

No way! Way to much give up when there could be a compliance buyout next summer. Or expansion draft the following year.

I’m absolutely okay with it. Dach is will never score more than 60-70 points in an nhl season and Stan bowman thinks he’s the second coming. He’s really not. So I’d rather sell him high of it means not retaining on seabrook. So as a habs fan, would u accept that? Cuz I’m perfectly content as long as beaudin isn’t in the trade, we need puck moving defensemen.

Also, here’s a thought. Go back in time, make Stan pick byram like he should’ve, trade joki and maybe a second or third round pick, and get the better nylander!!!!!!! Cuz the leafs are desperate for right hand d, and we get a top six winger!!! Logic!

I can understand you frustation when the hawks pass on byram but you never know how a 17-18 years old player will turn out. How can you be so sure Dach wont be a 60-70 pts player ? When MTL draft KK at 3rd, many where laughing but right now it seems like the thing to do. And for the trade you can forget it, Marc is in a win soon mode. This trade would have made sense for the habs 2 years ago. But, me, I would really consider it.

Hawks are giving up a lot of assets; however, they get the best 2 players back (immediately) for the same salary as one Seabrook.

Can’t tell if this is a troll or not, but there’s no way in hell I’d ever even consider this. Strome and DeBrincat will fit with ease next summer, as will Lehner/Crawford, depending on who we decide to keep. If Boqvist, Beaudin, Dach and Mitchell are the guys you’re worried about having space for, the team will look a lot different when those guys are up, so I’m not too worried about it right now.

But this a somewhat of a rebuild. You're not too worried about this year. Its 2-3 years down the road. When you think the players you just dumped are going to be good...when the Seabrook deal can be gotten rid of. Its insanity.

Everything you just said is perfect. Why can’t we just admit this is a reBUILD, not a reTOOL? If Stan did admit it, we wouldn’t have made half the trades we have. There’d be a process being followed. I don’t understand what the process Stan is following is anymore. It is, as you say, insanity.

Selling off more assets recent (cheaply):
Joki
AA

Buying:
Shaw (Vet Leadership?)
Määttä, Olli ?
CDH
Nylander (?)

I'd say more Re-tool honestly.

Hawks are leveraging (immediate) value out of their recent 3oA pick, and replacing Seabrook with 2 Top 6 players who expire before the expansion draft (extra slot) with handshake deals to re-sign and not waste expansion slots on your other kids.

Not trolling - just think that they will finish in the top of the conference by adding these two players with the career years that Strome and Debrincat had.
They're legitimately (by replacing a grossly overpaid #4D) adding #2D + #2LW for magic beans at this point.

Petry alone is a 1st + B Prospect. Retained is easily 2 1sts + 2nd.
Tatar is a late 1st + C Prospect. Retained adds 2nd + additional value.

Taking Seabrook on it's own would be a few 1sts based on recent market activity alone.
Why is it so imbalanced?

If DACH can score 60 to 70 points a season as a 2nd line center that puts him in the top ten percent of scorers in the league . if thats the case Bowman drafted well . Just how are you fitting NYLANDER and his 6.9 mil cap hit on the roster . And how are you resigning CAT and STROME next year if your spending 6.9 on Nylander ???? Or are you going to be forced to trade one of them for pennies on the dollar because you just put hawks back in cap hell . Not to mention you just wiped out the teams future by giving away all those pics .

Well, I’ll start with the most obvious part of your question: fitting nylander. Since that deal is predicated on this deal with Montreal, that’s how I fit him, I.e. seabrook for nylander essentially. Also, with all the depth and farm pieces we have now, draft picks can be easy to recoup.

As for Dach, if dach becomes ONLY a second line center for this team, that’s a freakin joke, cuz toews is probably 6-8 years from retirement, and even then, dach better be better than him before that. Also, from what the “hype” around him is, he better be better than strome. So if he becomes a first line center and only has 60-70 points, you bet your ass I’ll be pissed. Cuz they bailed on a number d man in byram for a player that they didn’t really need. Sure, a center, but they didn’t need scoring! He’s being compared to scheifele and getzlaf, he better be a high god damn scorer. Until he steps on nhl ice and proves himself though, he’s still the guy who’s the wrong guy in my eyes. And yes, that is very unfair of me, but bowman has me at my wits end.

Agree with the majority.

Good opportunity for both teams, especially given history; hence the proposal.

Was talking about insanity on the proposed trade. When I hear re-tool vs re-build...its the same thing. You can rebuild without getting rid of everything. A temporary refund adjustment is still just a tax.

Point production is cyclical. 18/19 was a high water mark. 4 years ago Jamie Benn led the league with 87 points. There was 9 centers with more than 70 points that year. Toews has broken 70 points twice in his career. Might want to slow your roll on being upset with point production if the rest of his game is there. I'd be willing to bet you've never seen the kid play.

First of all, loving these debates, honestly. I love sports conversations like this.

Now, having brought up point production being cyclical, I will stand corrected. Dach will probably average 50-70, not 60-70, so I stand corrected there. Now, having brought up toews, let’s get an obvious statement out of the way. Kirby Dach IS NOT a two way center. Have they said he can strip pucks and put pressure on puck carriers, sure. But he has no where near the two way effort we get from toews and even hossa when he was still here. So comparing his point totals to toews is pointless since they’re not the same player. Dach is suppose to be pure offense, and I use “suppose” loosely.

You are right about this, I’ve never seen him LIVE. But I have seen many of the USNTDP players live. Turcotte in particular. I said at the draft that I wouldn’t have minded taking turcotte even though I wanted byram. Because having seen turcotte, he plays amazing two way hockey at such a high compete level AND can score like crazy. Plus, speeeeed. I love speed. So maybe I haven’t seen Dach. I’ve seen the videos, heard the stories, including him going missing for 15-20 games at one point.

So I’ll ask what I’ve been asking since the draft: someone please sell me on this kid! No one has even tried yet, and I’m always open to convincing. Tell me why this kid is so spectacular, cuz from what I’ve seen he can’t even out skate WHL players in north south foot races. So is he another Dylan Please somebody convince me, I’m desperate for some faith and am all ears.
