Marner- Becoming most hated leaf

Description
I think the leafs trade Marner before they let him sign an offersheet. I would not be shocked if they already had one or two trades in place in case they want to pull the trigger. Arizona just got a new owner and I can see marner feeding kessel for days and becoming the most hated leaf for asking for too much $

In all Likeliness Marner could go to arizona but not for that
Keller and Chychrun is a deal breaker especially when he wants an overpayment.

The Leafs would trade Nylander before letting Marner go.

Mitch Marner is an extremely overrated player who is really nothing special. His advanced stats and possession metrics are far from impressive. In fact, even Nylander has better numbers than him. So far in their careers, Nylander’s Corsi for is 54% whereas Marner’s is only 40%. In fact, each 30 goal scorer on the Leafs found more success playing with Nylander than with Marner. Kadri has a .86 G/60 playing with Nylander and .85 playing with Marner. Van Riemsdyk has a 1.33 G/60 playing with Nylander and 1.18 with Marner. Tavares has a 6.27 G/60 playing with Nylander and 1.53 with Marner. Matthews has a 1.53 G/60 with Nylander and a 1.04 with Marner. This suggests that Marner doesn’t have a lot of individual talent plus his all round game is lacking. He has been riding on success playing with elite centres such as Kadri and Tavares. On his own he is average at best. Everyone has been talking about how he should be getting paid 9-10 million a season, but he’s actually nowhere close to that level. In reality, Mitch Marner’s closest comparable is Conor Sheary, another average winger who has benefited from playing with elite centres. Anything offer sheet over 5 million dollars the Leafs should not bother matching.

Clayton Keller is better than Mitch Marner. So is Jake Guentzel. Marner is on the same level as Conor Sheary. Do you know who’s that?

The gap between nylander is not as far as everyone assumes.

There are no offersheets coming and marner will be a leaf. The only type of offersheet Mitch will sign is one that Toronto will match. GM’s aren’t lining up to play games with him. All of this offersheet rumour has been orchestrated by his camp to gain leverage in negotiations. It won’t work. Also the leafs have zero trades in place. If someone is dumb enough to offer Mitch 5 x 12, dubas will take the compensation but marner isn’t dumb enough to sign that either...

If I were in charge of the Wild, I would have been interested in Marner (maybe Zucker + Spurgeon or + Dumba), but at this point I'm wondering if Marner's just gotten a big head and would be a locker room cancer.

So Marner is the most hated leaf? For how long? Are you sure nylander isn’t? Or should I say melander... Toronto fans and media are like piranhas... that is just how it is. What did nylander get at the ACC after sitting out nearly half a season? A Roaring ovation.

This is what I don't get. By all accounts everything that I've seen from Mitch in his public appearances and interviews would suggest that he he is a pretty authentic and genuine guy who is well liked. Dubas has echoed all of this over and over and describes him as a joy to have at the rink and that his character is beyond reproach.

So, if that's true, and I have no reason to doubt that it isn't, then why these ridiculous tactics and leaks to the media. His camp certainly isn't doing him any favors and all of this could back fire on him badly.

And for what? Ego? Pecking order? Money? I mean if it's about the money just take the 12.5/7 yr OS that apparently exists somewhere. Thats McJesus money. Hard to imagine a better offer than that.

I’m sure Marner knows he is not worth Matthews money. His dad on the other hand doesn’t and will continue to pursue 12+ million dollars from the Leafs.

I got these stats from Rahef Issa, she has her own talk show about the Leafs. A huge hater of Mitch Marner and a lover of William Nylander. Not that it matters. But I was listening to her and she said Mitch Marner in reality is on the same level as Conor Sheary, since both guys are incapable of generating offence on their own plus they rely on elite centres to drive the play. What’d you think?

I think a couple of things about that..

1. Comparing Marner to Sheary is silly.

2. Of course she loves Nylander. The guy is dreamy..

I know who Connor Sheary is, but he is better than Jake Guentzel and Connor Sheary. Jake Guentzel is just as or if not more carried with Crosby on his line, except in playoffs Crosby was bad.

He’s not a 11.5 player, but I think 11 is reasonable, so maybe he’s a tad overrated. But jeez. Kadri an elite center? Marner’s comparable is Connor Sheary? He gets carried by elite centers as referenced by this natural NHL player improvement? Yikes
