Teams aren't going to trade for Marner unless they have signed contract, Teams have their own cap issues and maybe want a salary structure that doesn't include 10m Marner.

Even 1 for 1 I don't think Boston trades McAvoy for Marner. I was going to say the same thing for Jones but CBJ doesn't have the fire power Boston has. IMO McAvoy and Jones are on the same level as Marner.

I don't think the Wild would move Dumba unless Matthews is the return (which, for the record, is stupid for the Leafs to do). We also don't have the cap space to sign Marner to the likely $12M+ he'd want for playing on the Wild.

Not really, he is a free agent able to negotiate with other teams - anyone trading for him instead of offer sheeting him is literally able to speak with his camp about contract demands beforehand.

Well technically we do right now, but that's before we have re-signed Fiala, Donato, and Eriksson Ek who will take up most of our remaining space. I'm gunna guess Fenton signs Fiala to an Arvidsson-esque deal in the 5 year x $5M range, Donato probably gets a 2/3 year deal in the $2-3M range and Eriksson Ek gets a 2/3 year deal in the $2M range. That eats up $9M of our existing $11M space, but then we have to call up Kunin who takes up $900k (and also Greenway who is another $900k), so really we only have less than $1M in cap space (assuming those players are signed to those deals) to play with, which wouldn't be enough for Marner.

Yep. Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE Marner, but I don't see any way we could make it work

Edit: Unless the Leafs are willing to take something like Spurgeon and Zucker for Marner, but I doubt that's the case
