At this point. None. Before the Maatta trade I would have suggested DeHaan because he could be had for the most reasonable cost, but the Hawks are now set at the D position...in fact will probably be looking to shed a Dman or two in the coming weeks.

I don't think Stan thinks the defense is set yet. Keith, Joki, and Maatta should be solid top 4 guys, but I don't think the front office believes Gus or Murphy are top 4 caliber. I wouldn't be surprised at all if one or both of them are shipped out, more likely Gus, and they bring in another defenseman. Carolina seems like the perfect trading partner in that case, and I've heard Faulk's name correlated with the Hawks recently.

The hard part is how do you appropriately value Gus? 60 points in truly about ~65 games....that's impressive no matter who you are. True, it was only 1 year...and his defensive lapses are known, but can be managed. IF we had to trade Gus...to me...it wouldn't be for a different 1 year RHD. I think that's a miss-calculation...on both sides. CAR would diminish his return by NOT playing him on the PP. CHI could easily be giving up someone REALLY good. CHI still needs to solve for a PP quarterback. Stan should be targeting picks @ the TDL or another forward. Just my thoughts. I would prefer he use Gus's $1.2M cap and target a Vegas or TBL or TOR or even EDM. They'd probably value the $1.2M cap the most.
