The last 2 season they have pretty similar numbers. I think he made a very solid point. Also Rakell makes less than 4 million Laine wants 9-10 million so you’re going to pay 2x more for similar production haha. Maybe don’t call people idiots when he makes a fair point

but for the sake of an argument i'll explain a bit the numbers u posted r laine's years at 18, 19 20... what were rakell's numbers at that age laine is 21 rakell is 26 ever since laine joined the nhl he had the 2nd most goals in the league as for the drought after november.. he's a much more complete player now so i'll take that as a win as for he being one dimensional.... that just says to me u never watch the jets and just copy what the other non-jet watchers say.......... as for the money... rackell is taking a discount i agree but most of the people on capfriendly have laine being paid 9-10 million long term with offersheet of signing with the jets ask yourself why

I have to disagree with Laine being better, he may be a better goal scorer, but that's just it. He's a Cy young. The droughts are what worries me with him, which is likely why Jets do not sign him long term. He needs to evolve into a more complete player, or at least, not a detriment to his team. I'd rather keep Rakell, because he did have a down year but it was in Carlyle's crap ass system.

Also, this is exhibit A of piss poor asset management. Last year not withstanding, Rakell nets nearly 70pts and Perry nets 50pts. Unless Laine becomes the second-coming of Kucherov, you're wasting assets for no reason, plus retaining? No way Ducks do this.

If Jets are smart, they won't overpay, I'd likely go with a bridge deal to have Laine prove his worth. 2x 6mil likely or they could add a 3rd year. This is comparable to the bridge deal that Kucherov signed.
