I have seen NYR ACGM offer a pick to move him. He has a lot more value than that, and more value than nothing.
Let's start with Scandella for Shattenkirk. NYR save cap and Buffalo gets a RHD.
IMO that is not enough, so Buffalo adds.
I doubt there are any forwards that the Rangers would want so it needs to be a pick, I just do not know what is fair.
Let's presume Buffalo could retain $1,000,000 of Scandella's salary.
So NYR ACGM finish the deal.

I would presume most Sabre ACGM's would not like this trade, but with retention, there would be minor cap increase this year but the Sabres get a defenseman that would certainly make Ristolainen available to be traded. I have seen several thoughts that would make the Sabres better.
