Jets extend Trouba

Créé par: jimmyjets

Description
Trouba was actually all about that money....
Kulikov's hit goes to Morrissey and he's replaced by Samberg (or Stanley). Buff's money goes to Laine after his bridge is up. Could do a 2 year bridge instead of 3.
Bounce Vesalainen up and down and try to carry only 22 players on home stands with the Moose in the same building like this year.

Many many sources and people are saying that. Just go on twitter and type Jacob Trouba in search.

I'm with you... There's an outside chance that he could stay. His reported ask, last summer (on a long term deal) was $7,000,000.... If Jacob Trouba isn't worth that money, who the hell is? Lot's of finger pointing at Trouba, but nobody wants to consider the fact that Chevy has been low-balling him... Perhaps the reason this relationship has turned sour is more complicated than everyone seems to think.

Nobody wants to look at the fact that the Jets had no trouble handing Bryan Little $5+ million, and Kulikov $4+ Million... but somehow Trouba hasn't "earned" the money he's asked for... I would be upset about it too. Especially when you preach "Draft and develop", and you can't commit to one of your first 1st rounders. I, for one, don't blame Trouba for feeling gut-punched by the team.

So... twitter makes it true, got it.

If you can't point to a link, why would you try to shut someone down who wants to create a mock with Trouba re-signed?

No..

His dad is a thief, he wants to play in US because his father is not allowed in canada. I would love if Jets could easily resigned Trouba and that would actually be a decent deal for him. BUT he wants to be in US market.. If he wanted to be in Canada, Leafs would be all over him.

The rumor was sparked in 2016 when he requested a trade. Trouba himself refuted it:

In September, Trouba’s agent revealed his client requested a trade out of Winnipeg as he wanted to switch sides and play as a right shot defenceman. Some believed the statement was a cover-up and the 22-year-old American no longer wanted to play north of the border.

“It had nothing to do with Winnipeg or Canada,” Trouba said. “I’m a player that gets to play in the NHL and that’s a pretty special thing. That’s what I dreamed of my whole childhood. I don’t think it matters where.”

As a Detroit fan I believe this has the same chance of happening as Trouba signing long term in Detroit. I know I sound like a broken record but every time the local media talks about a player signing in Detroit because he is from here IT NEVER HAPPENS. This is the same local media that thinks Datsyuk is going to make a come back with the Wings at 41yrs old. So excuse me If I don't believe the media!!!!!!

Not necessarily. This is right from the Overcharge playbook. Ryan Johansson had the exact same thing where people thought he didn't want to be in Columbus and then he signed a long term big money deal the summer before his last RFA year started. You accept the bridge deal and then move your client to have the maximum leverage for the big money negotiation. You need to make sure that your player has been given the opportunity to succeed so the holdout to play on the right side makes sense and so does playing Trouba on the PP1 a bit this year including playoffs when Buff was back (although not 100%).

Trouba nor his agent have ever said he wanted out of Winnipeg, that is fake news that gets repeated so much people think it's true. I think that he may just be all about that money and wants to get paid. The fact that Chevy hasn't even had a conversation with Myers about an extension means that he's either going to sign Trouba or make other arrangements, but if you were going to trade Trouba you'd think you'd at least be curious what Myers ask would be in case the trade return didn't include a top 4 d.

It's possible that Chevy didn't want to pay that much for a guy that didn't put up the points of other elite D. This year Trouba proved what many in the advanced stats community have known for a while that he'll put up 30 5 v 5 points per year and with PP time will be 50 points or more per year. Buff has 2 years left and probably starts getting hurt with greater frequency. Trouba will be the alpha here soon enough.

People always say it isn't about the money but then when it comes down to it it actually is about the money, but that just doesn't play well in the public.

there is no reason to overpay your own rfa or ufa. trouba is good but not eight million good. trouba has never criticized the jets or Canada but his reasons for wanting to leave have been pretty well confirmed. the decision the jets have is to trade for some assets now or treat him as your rental for one last season.
have to disagree with carrying 22 players. jets have one worse travel schedules. most of the time it will 23 players.

laugh laugh Of course he refuted it, He was under contract. Per Darren Dreger quoting Trouba's own agent Kurt Overhardt, Canada is no longer an option for Jacob. He wants to play within 200 miles of home referring to Detroit. Chicago isn't an option as he doesn't want to play in the Western Conference any more. And Canada isn't an option. So that pretty much leaves only Detroit, Columbus or Pittsburgh as viable options. Sure was funny that when Trouba sat out he was training at home in Michigan. He can train anywhere but chose Michigan as his base. Pretty much tells me all i need to know.

Uh... pretty much everybody trains at home - or with friends. A friend of mine in Toronto ran into Taylor Hall at a local rink last summer - should we be reading something into that? laugh laugh

You Detroit fans all have an superiority complex.

Do you have a link? I think that's the point. IF Dreger ever reported that, was it "The GM I talked to doesn't believe Canada is an option" or was it "The GM I talked to was told that Canada isn't an option."

One is someone's interpretation of the situation while the other would be actual proof. Lots of times the TSN guys report their opinion or the opinion of an unknown source. It isn't the same as being told that it is for sure this. I think that's why KO came out and refuted the claim while the trade demand was still in place.

Here is the link I have to the Dreger statement and as you'll see it's him saying "The belief is..." which isn't a statement of fact. It's just someones opinion but people hear what they want to hear and say something is for sure true when what was actually reported isn't that. It's that someone thought this was true... but maybe it isn't.

Just FYI most of the time this year they carried 22 players at home and 23 on road trips. It worked out fine and I expect them to do the same thing every year as long as the Moose are in Winnipeg. It's one of the biggest advantages of having the farm team so close.
