first things first, that's not enough in terms of compensation. Then take a look at what the ducks have for RHD....they're not likely to trade Manson.

I don't think Marner signs for under 10 mil. Also why 5 years for McQuaid?

Yeah, so then the Ducks can roll-out Lindholm, Fowler, prospect, prospect, prospect, veteran on a 1 year deal...that sounds a bit foolish...

As for the Mac/Zaitsev trade, why would Ottawa do that? MacArthur's contract is insured, so they'd pay a portion of the $4.65 mil, whereas with Zaitsev, they'd pay the full $4.5 for the next 5 years. It doesn't benefit them at all. "Here, take $20+ million owed to Zaitsev, and we'll take one year of an insured contract off of your hands...We'll even give you these late round picks to spice it up!"

Sure you may need to add a defence prospect to the package to pull Mason as for Ducks not moving him due to lack of RHD is nonsense, Ducks are far from competitive and will be for 3/4 seasons untill Perry and Getz are off the books and niether 1 is waving to leave California. Mason does not bring the ducks to the playoffs therefore holding him untill he is a UFA is pointless when they have been shopping for young speedy wingers.

For McQuaid ya the term is long, he's 32 and will want buyout protection for his next deal, he is a very serviceable 3 pair that has done really good things playing with young in experienced LD that move the puck, which is what the Leafs have in prospect pool for D. Longer term to maintain an affordable cap hit

Ottawa does that deal all day long, why? Melnyk 1 name Melnyk man is cheap and the Sens will need the cap floor and have 0 interest in being competitive over the next 5 seasons. Should be I bring up the so called impossible to move Phaneuf trade.

This isn't close to the Phaneuf trade. You are giving Ottawa a cap hit and expense no team wants long term. It is pure nonsense that Ottawa has to take on bad contracts to hit the floor. C'mon no knowledge person believe nonsense.. Beside McArthur and Zaitsev are just 1m in actual cap hit for the Sens.

Someone cheap would probably move a LTIR for one year of a bad contract, not 5 years of a bad contract.

Lots of bad contracts out there, but the world is centralized around the Leafs, so they're the only team that anyone could possibly ever deal with...
