Isn't free agency exactly the time you have to overpay for players though? Its the one time a player gets a free market. Teams get this player for free without losing any assets so the counter to that is that the player goes to the highest bidder.

Regardless, 4x4 or 5x5 are simply not realistic so no point in hoping. He gets north of 5M very very easily. Karl Alzner got 4.65m for crying out loud. Myers isn;t accepting anything less than what he got previously.

It is going to take a lot more than that to move Lucic. While not great value on their own, both Sutter and Pearson are better players than Lucic. Sutter and Pearson have 2 years left, Lucic 4 years. Cave is nothing. A 4th is nothing. Edmonton easily wins this trade. At MINIMUM Edmonton would need to add a 1st to this trade, and that is just the starting point.

Upon a deeper review of Myers, you are correct. 5.5 / 6 is not outside the realm of possibilities for him @ ufa.
With Trouba also needing a contract, I don't think both will be signed. One or both will likely be moved.

Agreed. I think WPG has to move Trouba because of his uncertainty but they may keep Myers as a result. Losing both would be too big a blow to their d core IMO. (Unless they get someone else in free agency/Trades)
