When did RNH score 30 goals?

RNH is better than AA but I wouldn't give up a good prospect and 2 draft picks to get him. Draft picks are just to important Detroit is still rebuilding and when start trading picks and prospect for established players You end up in a never ending rebuild. I saw this today and the title says it all: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1129277

I agree, oilers take this deal in a heartbeat!
As much as I like RNH, this helps with cap issues, and gives Oilers 2 great players and picks.

So my reason was stacking the deal in EDM favor was AA in expiring deal. Provides cap relief for one year.

Can someone say what the deal might look like? Take out Kufner? Take out the picks? Is it AA for RNH straight up?

Oliers would never go 1 for 1. I think removing one of the draft picks is about as low as they would go. I'm not sure I'd do it for more than 1 for1. I just don't think a deal can be done to make both teams happy.

No offense too Edmonton but they have been rebuilding or retooling for quite a while now and so has Buffalo. I their defense they have had trouble with impatience GMs trying to speed up the rebuild. I do think with Hitchcock will be able to turn things around.

AA is easily the most requested Red Wing in these mock trades. So to my fellow Wings fans how come just about everybody on this site can see he is going to be really good
and most Detroit fans are in a hurry. I'd love an explanation or the logic behind trading AA.

As a Detroit fan I think trading AA at this point it would a monumental mistake. It obvious that he is a true center by his stats while playing center. So I'd like to see what he could do coming into the season with the confidence he had at the end of the season and playing his natural position from from the start. I think he is going to have more goals and points than he did this season. Not just AA but with any trade Detroit makes starts trading multiple picks or prospects for vets, five years from now we will be in the same place arguing about the same stuff.

The reason many people request trades with AA is his holdout in 2017. The perceive he doesn’t want to be here.

The logic behind my trade is many RFAs for Wings next offseason including AA, Mantha, Bertuzzi. Trading for RNH (who is only 20 months older and signed for an additional season) gives Wings a 1-2 punch at center that rivals just about anyone in league. I think the Oilers have some cap pressure and will be looking to make a move.

I can understand a reluctance to trade picks, but the Wings have lots of draft assets and only so many pro contracts to give. Using a couple to improve the most important position, and shake up a losing roster, makes sense IMO.

Could they keep AA, sure. I probably agree with you. But the point of Armchair GM is to mess around with potential deals, right?

FWIW, I don't think that's an overpay, it's very likely what it would cost to get RNH out of Edmonton. And Edmonton wouldn't do it without a replacement 2C in place... the only guy available in free agency (that would be an upgrade) is Duchene and I'm not sure the Oilers could afford him. Of course Draisaitl could play 2C, but now you're in the same situation with only 3 good top-6 players - they need to add to their core, not make sideways moves.

Maybe I'll try making an EDM mock using the above assumptions when I get a moment.
