Oilers say no. Drai is a 100 point player now and is untouchable imo.

Acceptable. Figured this is a way to get rid of Lucic without buyout and get some decent assets, but if Drai is too important, then it's a no-go.

This deal benefits Toronto, though. Spurgeon would be a first pair D in your team, he has more value than Kapanen. Especially when 50% salary is retained. They also take Zaitsev of your hands for a 2nd. 3rd is for the rights of Åberg, he could have a slot in your roster if Kappy leaves.

I would make this trade in a heartbeat i think if im toronto, aberg isnt terrible and to move on from arguably 8+mil in cap for $2,593,750 on spurgeon and an rfa thatll sign around 1 mill maybe play with the picks a bit but id say thats pretty fair.

Rather lose kappy then all of the grit we have left up front in kadri lol

That’s a lot of salary Vancouver is taking, but both players aren’t bad. Leaning towards no as Vancouver needs younger players and salary flexibility.

I agree with those above that think the Oilers say no, but I would have to seriously consider that offer if I run the Wild! My biggest problem is giving up Ek - I really like him as a player and think he has the potential to be a player very much like Mikko Koivu, only with very good speed. Lucic's contract would be a burden, but the Wild aren't ready to compete for the Cup anytime soon anyway, so...

I like the Toronto trade and have made many very similar to that. The only problem I see with it is Aberg. He's a complete waste of talent. If he wanted to, I think he could be a very good middle 6 winger, but he doesn't appear to give a crap. Maybe Babcock can get him to be a player though...

As much as I would love to get rid of Rask, Pouliot and Granlund do nothing for the Wild. I also have zero interest in trading Foligno. He is becoming a big time leader for the Wild both with his play and his words.

You've got the cap space. I think Rask could be an useful player to you as a 3C. Foligno brings you grit, and both of them bring you closer to the salary cap floor. Besides moving Pouliot and Granlund opens slots to young players like Juolevi and maybe Lind?

Draisaitl could make your retooling process much faster. And, let's say I'm not aware of Foligno being that big of an asset for you guys, maybe he brings some grit...I dunno, but Lucic does that too, if he does something lol.

Yeah, TOR trade should be the one that benefit each team the most.

If we are "paying" to move Zaitsev...I'd see if the leafs could get the cap to work with him and maybe save the draft pick. I don't mind the bones of this deal being Kapanen for a retained 50% retained Spurgeon...just feel the right side defence looks a lot beter with Spurgeon - Zaitzev - ? vs Spurgeon - ? - ?.

Although I'd be down to re-upping Hainsey for $2m or less and making this deal as-is

I think Zaitsev will free some cap space for you for the next season, and 5 more seasons after that. In this case your RHDs can be for the next year Spurgeon - Hainsey - Ozhiganov, and for the next year they could be for example, Spurgeon - Liljegren - some other young D - this assuming of course that Spurgeon will re-sign with TOR.

In my opinion every little penny you guys save can help your future. Gotta remember that there are some big contracts about to expire in relatively short time, just about 2 years. I mean Rielly and Andersen, and possibly even Johnsson's if he's signed to a 2-year bridge deal... This deal doesn't help you just now, it can also help you in more distant future.

Oh for sure....certainly well aware of the cap situation. I personally have liked the way Zaitsev has played since Gardiner got injured and is paired with Muzzin. He's still not worth $4.5m, so if there's a deal that makes sense to move him and bring in another RHD, it has to be explored...but Ozhiganov is not an NHL defenceman, IMO....so if they can make the numbers work, I'd rather keep Zaitsev than pay to move him out because he a useful d-man

Already have Gaudette as 3rd line center (and Sutter and Beagle). Foligno could work though.
