If Stamkos ends up in Toronto, then I think Vesey does too.

Might want to change that to a 2016 7th from Minny (they don't have a 5th or 6th).

Vesey. You would think the Bruins and Leafs are among the top contenders. My thought is the Leafs have to June 30 to trade JVR with no NTC limitations. If JVR is traded, Vesey as an excellent opportunity to slot into the #1 LW position. Think Stamkos will be a non factor in his decision, but the thought of having Nylander or Matthews as his centres might be really appealing to him.

two things are really starting to scare me:
1) seeing how much is starting to ride on Sweeney convincing Vesey to come to Boston when they can't simply offer the most $
2) how much it's starting to look like Sweeney is just bringing everyone back from a team that has missed the playoffs two straight years and is trending the wrong way.

We can offer Vesey a good contract, especially if Eriksson leaves. Also Vesey is local, was coached by a former Bruin (Ted Donato), and had a Bruins prospect as a teammate (Ryan Donato). To me those things give the Bruins the highest chance with him.

All 30 teams are going to offer Vesey the maximum entry level contract (2 years $950k per year, and whatever bonuses come with an EL deal). I think one of the biggest priorities for Vesey is going to be guaranteed a top 6 role on a team that he'll be able to produce points. This way he can set himself up to have the best numbers possible to maximize the amount he gets as a RFA in 2 years. It's all about setting himself up for a nice "bridge deal." If Toronto gets Stamkos, they could guarantee him the left wing on Stamkos' line. Or, at worse, Toronto could guarantee him a spot as the LW on Matthews line. I think that might be more attractive to Vesey than playing with Bergeron or Krejci. But who knows, maybe since he is from Boston he simply wants to play for the Bruins.
