Depending on how high of a pick it ends up being and it'd have to be top 7 but no higher than 3rd because the Oilers would absolutely keep 1st or 2nd pick. The return would be a player under contract that will likely never make the NHL or a 7th rounder. Also Lucic would have to agree to waive his nmc even after knowing that said team would not reinstate his nmc once moved to avoid losing a protection spot during the expansion draft. So all in all Lucic would have to really want out of EDM and the team that took him would have to be rebuilding and have tons of cap with no major resigns on the horizon.

This Buffalo fan will sent you Kyle Okposo, put him with McDavid and he will do very well. He still has talent on a talent-less team.

Okposo is intriguing. Has the same cap hit over the same remaining term as Lucic and might be effective in some situations with McDavid. Wouldn't help the cap situation in Oiler country whatsoever but would be a much needed upgrade on the wing.

With that being said, to dump Lucic and get okposo price would have to be higher than just a 1st round pick.

I really hate Lucic. He is a disgrace to hockey and as much as I envy and dislike the Bruins, I thought they made a great move to get him off of the team. The manner in which he disrespected the congratulatory hand shake after the loss to the Canadians amplified what a huge child he really is. It only took the Bruins a year to move him, but they did the right thing.
It does not help the cap issue so the Sabres can retain some of Kyle's salary, but I want the first or no deal. Then the Sabres can have him sit in the press box the next 3 seasons, or until he grows up.

Also no team wants the contract as it was reported that even with Puljujarvi and Lucic, no team wanted to take on Lucic to acquire Puljujarvi.

The only reasonable thing I can see is Lucic going to Seattle in the expansion draft and the Oilers giving up a 1st for Seattle to take him. Just like Vegas did with selecting Fleury from Pittsburgh. But that is still 2 years away.
