McDavid & Matthews are poor comparisons (tax rate difference). Stone is 4 years older & had 2 more successful NHL seasons @ signing date than Pointer. Kucherov is 3 years older, had 1 more successful season @ signing date. And he already ran thru his Tampa 3 year bridge.

His motivation is to get his extension done asap, stay loyal to Tampa and his teammates, & not risk putting his franchise in a bad cap situation while they're literally fighting to keep him in Tampa...
