This would be amazing, if this was the deadline BOS had they'd be a serious threat

Actually, I’d leave backes out of it too and make the deal smaller. I think there’s a really good chance he retires after July 1st

I know they probably wouldn't take Backes, but I figure with all these good young pieces plus a 1st they'd maybe agree taking him. Who knows.

I think they would take him, my point is you have to pay them to take him, and I think there’s a very good chance he retires before next season. I would hold onto the assets

Does not absolve of them of his Cap hit. They’d have to pay a recapture penalty.

I can’t remember the exact loop hole, but I don’t think his contract is subject to recapture penalties. I could be wrong on this. If he LTIRetires, it is not subject to a recapture. Even if there is a recapture, it would only be 1.3 million or so, which is better than retaining.

I’ve heard 2 different stories when it comes to recapture with him and no definitive answer so i am not 100% sure either.

Retirement with no recapture would clearly be the best thing for the B’s.

You'd give up Donato, Lauzon, 1st and Swayman for Eric Staal? That's gotta be the worst deadline deal I've seen from the Bruins perspective yet.

Relax buddy. I didn’t say that. Obviously it would be a smaller deal

I'm not uptight, it was a literal statement. It'd be the worst I've seen thus far as Staal clearly isn't worth that much. You just mentioned you'd take out Brodin and Grizz, then you mentioned you'd take Backes out too. That leaves the players left in the deal which I mentioned....

There is obvious payment for taking the Backes Contract. Cmon, pretty easy to figure out that the deal would be smaller. Cheers

I dunno, I think the team might be able to throw him into a deal at the deadline here if it's sweet enough already. Atleast that's my hope. If he's told by management he'll be playing in the AHL or on another team I think he'd waive to go to the other team even if they aren't in the playoff race.

Okay, what does that have to do with this?
