Interesting but i think it would make more sense for the Jets to retain and then the pens are the ones who send a pick to compensate for that.

Maatta > Kulikov
Brass > Perreault
basically you're sending the penguins two cap dumps and acquiring two better players

Pit don’t wait Kulikov.

Brassard for Perrault is really fair though. Maybe pens add a mid round pick. It’s essentially hagalin for perron back in 2016

Doubt Pittsburgh could fit Perreault's salary in next season also Perreault doesn't play center anymore and if the Pens deal Brassard it'll be for a center or they're gonna want to acquire a center in another trade and they'll need the cap space for that incoming player. If they deal Maata I doubt they want to bring in another defenseman, they'll probably try to fill that spot internally with Johnson or Rikolla.

Perreault is better than Brassard in almost every stastistic. When Perreault was a 2nd line winger they had similar production and now that they are 3rd liners Perreault has more production. Perreault also has more term and is a better player when taking advanced stats into consideration

maybe better this year. but to say he's a better player is just not true. brassard is a second line center on mostly any other team and carries more value not to mention being on a decent contract at only 3 million & being a proven playoff performer only adds to the value and interest of other teams . Perreault's cap hit is terrible, as is Kulikov's

These cap hits are not bad at all(4M)...Brassard is also a rental.... Perreault is worth more than Brassard

4 million for a player who ,
-has never scored 20 goals in a season
- has never scored 50 points in a season
- has only 4 goals in 34 playoff games.

VS 3 million for brassard who
- has had 50-60 point seasons
-20+ goal seasons
- 23 goals- 59 points in 90 playoff games
no way in hell Perreault is worth more. maybe to a gm like chiarelli / Bergevin but not to a smart GM

I like it..."who's had"....Brassard is not playing well hence why Pittsburgh hasn't re-signed him and is wanting to trade him. Perreault is a consistent 3rd liner who the coach will know what he's getting.....

The reason for this trade is the fact that the Jets need a center and not another LW

3rd liner making 4 million for 3 more years, hence why no team wants him. pens especially don't need that on their cap.

He is not a third liner on most teams. When he was a 2nd line winger with the jets, he was on pace for 60 pts per season (seasons were shortened by injury) without a decent center to play with.

IMO, brassard has a better offensive history because of the teams he played on and him not getting injured. Brassard has always had more of an opportunity than perreault. Finally, perreault can drive his own line while brassard has proven that he cannot. Perreault’s injection onto our third line has turned tanev into a 20 point player 50 games in.
