Description
-Schenn walks and Forbort steps in full time. The kids gotta play sometime. Little transition year could be perfect. Defense remains solid.

-VAN is looking to deal Higgins, while LA wants the same with Gaborik. Both around the same age, but Gaborik has more skill, but LA retains $875k so VAN only has to pay $4 mil for the rest of Gaborik deal

-Brown fits in Philly's system, LA and PHI have a great relationship. Basically a trade for Philly to upgrade and get rid of Umberger and LA gets rid of Brown's contract and buy out Umberger to save $3 mil

-Helm is a cheap upgrade for Lewis and adds more speed and skill.

-Brouwer is a replacement for Brown and would compliment Lucic and Kopi better than Brown could.

Brouwer signing may force Lombardi to trade Pearson or Toffoli the following summer. Enroth will not be coming back he has already said, didn't play as much as he wanted. Budaj is likely next years backup at an affordable 600k.

Brown will be a King for a very long time. Trading him is not even remotely in the same realm as the word "easy". (Easy as trading him for Umberger in this case)

Umberger and Higgins contracts hardly match the long term pain of Gaborik and Brown deals.

You're right the Brown would fit into the Philly system......of crappy contracts, Umberger, Lecavalier, that 51m goalie, MacDonald and probably Vorachek.
