I didn't think BOS would move Donato either but there was reports that Donato has fallen out of favor with BOS management and that they're shopping him. Not sure how you could say its not fair value for a rental? Hayes is a reliable 2 way pivot on pace for almost 70 pts. He'd also likely resign with Boston.

Too much imo. Donato has looked really good and as much as i love Hayes, I think the Bruins will hang on to Donato for now, maybe JFK instead of Donato and take out one of the picks

Lmfao... "murdered"? What a delusional and over reactive take. The BOS/NYR trade last season was far from a "murder". It was fair value for the best winger option at the TDL. The only valuable piece the Bruins gave up was the 1st round pick. Lindgren is a decent prospect, but his upside seems to be limited and Spooner blows.

At the time Spooner was probably worth a 2nd round pick in the offseason if he kept the pace he was at and Lindgren was a 2nd round prospect. People forget though that the Bruins were able to dump nearly 2m in salary cap in the deal so that factors in as well.

I think the deal slightly favored the Rangers and because it didn't work out some people are always going to blow it out of proportion. The team targeted he and only he and was 2nd in the East with the 4th overall best record in the league and Sweeney said the team earned the right to have a big time piece added due to their consistent play so that's why they felt okay spending a good amount for a guy who hadn't topped 40 points in 3 years. That was the part of the deal I didn't like. Rick Nash hadn't played 70+ games since 2014-2015 so it was a major gamble as a rental health wise and it figures he gets hurt. The team probably should have seen that one coming which is why I didn't like the deal, but had Nash stayed healthy the entire way he would have been worth the price in my estimation.
