This actually makes a surprising amount of sense for both sides. Prospect for prospect trades are pretty rare, and I'd assume both teams would value their own prospect more than the other, but I kind of like it!

This trade would make sense if both teams disliked their prospects, but both teams like them. I'm not totally sure about Carolina but little chance MTL makes this deal. I would understand trading Bean for a center prospect on Carolina's side. But MTL just watched Poehling tear up the WJC. Meanwhile Bean is doing "well" in the AHL. I understand why the teams would make this deal but I don't see it coming together. Nice thought though.

Bean has 23 pts in the AHL with the Checkers, he would be the 2nd point producer if he would be with the rocket... IMO Carolina would hesitate on that deal but would make a lot of sense for everyone involved.

I do see us (Canes) hesitating on it a little bit, considering we still think Bean can pan out, since he was drafted so high.
That being said, I would rather have Poehling, since we have Fox too.
This trade fills both teams needs pretty well, assuming both players are able to reach their full potential!

All these points are true but Carolina have a log jam for a blue line. Bean is never gonna be first pair while Slavin is in Carolina.

I think Bean being a top 10 pick and Ryan being a 25th OA pick gives Bean more value because it shows he has that higher upside, so maybe Ryan and a 4th or something for Bean but this makes a lot of sense. If Domi can keep it up at C with Danault and Kotka behind him, you don't need a guy like Poehling or even Suzuki.... just my 2 cents

As soon as RP signs a contract it’s a fair deal. Until then Canes will pass. The threat of him going back for sr year and becoming a FA is enough to scare them away. They already have one in Fox.

Sergachev was traded for a reason and right now Tampa has him on their 3rd pairing... No we're not trading back for him

My initial reaction was : "what... no?"

But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. I still have a gut feeling that MTL should keep Poehling, be patient.

No team want to see their top prospect go, but to fill needs... I think it would benefit both teams.

CAR got Fox in their pipeline and are stacked on D... Habs C pos is about fixed for a couple of years. Evans progression and Danault's play make that move possible IMO...
