Description
NYI decide to go after an un-happy Frolik in exchange for Eberle (as opposed to futures, as they are in the play-off hunt). OTT realizes they cannot re-sign Stone and gets younger with Bennett and a potential future star in Kylington. Borowiecki helps the left D as Tre is purportedly interested in and allows Jusso V. time in Stockton this year to re-cooperate from injury. Flames move on from Gillies to get a competent backup for the playoffs and bury Smith in minors to mentor Parsons who now can take the lead role down there. Rumours out there suggest Carolina will not re-sign Ferland and realizing they won't make the playoffs, send him back to a familiar team (that didn't want to trade him) for a cup run (likely to expensive to re-sign as well)

No intent to resign Eberle next year for cap reasons (CGY will sign Stone instead, unless negotiations with Stone stall). This just puts CGY over the edge for a cup run this year as our PP2 gets fixed and more depth scoring along the way.

Giving up lots of picks, but this could be CGY's year... go for it! Although Tre manages to do this while leaving the 1st round picks intact to bump up the high end prospect depth in Stockton moving forward.

These are incredibly lopsided in Flames favor. All are declined quickly.

This is bad, you are bad and you should feel bad. Not one of these deals is even anything half way close to realistic.

An overpaid, old, disgruntled winger and a nothing draft pick for a proven top 6 sniper? LOL

Think of what the Canes just gave up for Ferland. No chance they take a failed prospect and a free agent bust off your hands to give Ferland back.

I dont even want to comment on the Ottawa trade because it actually hurts my head to do the mental gymnastics to get to that level of delusion in thinking thats fair.

Ottawa would prefer if Neal wasn't included in the trade. Free cap is more important than full four years of 5,75m Neal. On smaller scale, the Isles have no need of Frolik

Not even remotely close to getting Stone.

James Neal is washed, and is only in the 1st year of a 5 year extension. Why on earth would Ottawa want any part of that unless they are also moving out a bad contract?

Sam Bennett is never going to be the player he was drafted to be, and he doesn't really have that much value. He's a 3rd liner that doesn't even produce well in that role.

After that, Kylington a 2nd and a 3rd is not nearly enough for Stone, who is one of the best offensive producers in the league, playing at >point per game since the start of last season. He's on pace for 40 goals, 90 points, and at this point could sleepwalk his way to a 30g 70p season.

CGY is paying those assets to Ottawa for what could turn out to be a rental... Stone is UFA. If Stone was RFA, the ask would be much higher. Ottawa also doesn't want to tank too bad this year as they have no 1st round pick, thus three roster players going over for two the other way and two of those are very young building blocks (Bennett needs more ice time & Kylington will be a stud in this league). Think things through before rushing to judgment!

Frolik is under-utilized in Calgary because of their crazy depth and has not been one of Peters go to guys for some reason despite being used heavily by the former coach not that long ago. Frolik is a defensive specialist who can occasionally score, while Eberle is basically just an offensive specialist at this point who occasionally decides to defend. He fits better in CGY on an offensive deployed line to create some secondary scoring. NYI won't re-sign Eberle, but want to push to playoffs and want SOMETHING back for Eberle that is not just futures. Frolik at least gives them someone with more term.

The Ferly trade I'll admit is a be a bit lop-sided, but again is for a rental that is reportedly not wanting to re-sign there, thus lowers what CAR can ask and catches their GM in tough spot. Czarnik was reportedly sought out by 20 teams in free agency and gives a cash strapped franchise a cheap player for another year that again is buried by CGY's incredible depth. In an offensive role in CAR... Czarnik will likely "pop". This trade assumes CAR is out of it at the deadline.

These trades definitely are lopsided in the flames favour. But damn the salt is just seeping out of you, eh? I know your name gives it away but wow you really do hate the Western Conference leading Calgary Flames. Oilers fan? Just curious.
