I like the look of this lineup. Signings seem fair +/- a few dollars for different players. Good trade too.

Looks great! I'd swap Johnsson & Marleau for line placement but everything else looks solid. Hopefully those are the higher ends of the contracts for the boys as well.

I don't see why Anaheim would touch that. Every leafs fan has Connor Brown and Zaitsev in their trade proposals, but they don't offer a lot of value. Brown is going to be 25 in less than a month and he's on pace for about 30 points. Players like that grow on trees. Zaitsev's contract isn't great. The team who acquires him is pretty much locked in on him and he's not a great player and contributes zero offensively. The picks aren't great from Toronto either as they'll certainly make the playoffs barring a ton of injuries and it's likely that even if they got bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs the pick would be around 25 because of a strong regular season racking up a lot of points in the standings.

The logic here from Leafs fans might be "well Anaheim might do this if they're rebuilding" but I don't see how they'd trade a young top 4 defender for 2 older players and non top 20 picks. It just doesn't make much sense.

I get your point. I wasn't sure myself whether that trade was fair or not. I just had this feeling that ANA would probably be looking for a right handed forward because Silfverberg might be leaving the team, and a 30 point forward who plays as a 4th liner without much ice time is not too bad... Also since Zaitsev, 1st and 2nd brings a decent defensive asset and even semi valuable picks, I think it might be fair. We have to remember that ANA has not that much cap space - and after Montour's contract expires after 2019-20 season, they might've been in problems with him. Brown and Zaitsev are pretty much cost controlled options.

Brown is being buried by Babs in the defensive end. He has a 36% ozone% and still is posting positive possession numbers. He has quickly become the most underrated leaf by far due to his offence being meh (mostly due to this absurd usage). Zaitzev is essentially what we though Luke Schenn would be if Schenn could skate, as you can see the league has changed. The problem with them for people on here is not that they are unless or not good, but their aav in conjunction with the Leafs cap crunch. Zaitzev is overpaid, but does his role well (look at his underlying numbers, Z is doing surprisingly well), and the same goes for Brown, who is simply being buried on the right by Marner, Nylander, and Kappy, which makes his 2.1 aav on the fourth line an easy spot to cut from this perspective (although Babs would never allow it considering his usage).

Look, my opinion is well known here, but that is way too much for Marner, and an overpay for Matthews.
Look, you can argue they are worth it, and that is fine, but in a cap world guys get less than they deserve. There is no way Marner gets more than Kucherov, who signed out of UFA (eligible) and has been one of the best wingers in the game. Marner is an RFA, a home town boy, and has been great, but that puts him below 9aav (I think it is between 8-8.5, but it may be 8.75 or something around there, just less than nine is my honest opinion).
I agree Kappy might get that contract if the Leafs had the space, but they will bridge him like they did Brown to keep aav down and keep the team together(let the future figure it out like in Tampa).
On Matthews, While do see him getting over 11 as a distinct possibility, I cannot see him getting 12+, and with other factors involved, I dont think 11-11.34 is out of the question or even unlikely.

But know I am in the minority here so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Montour is good on the power play, but not a complete defender inside his own blue line.
Leafs need a couple of D with skills to break up the rush and strong enough to defend against the cycle.
Montour does not fit that description - Manson does

Probably so, but Montour fits in the salary cap - Manson doesn't.
