I mean we don’t want JBo and you think some picks are going to turn him into Ekholm? I won’t touch the others...let’s just say it would be nice if we could just do a conference call and get all the nos at one time

What am I missing here. By trading the 2020 first it means Buffalo gets to keep the 2019 first, is this not correct? Second, Sheary is worth about a 3rd so the trade is Mittelstadt, and a 3rd for last years, 25th over all, and SLB top RW prospect Bokk, SLB top LW prospect, Blais; this years first (because this trade give both 2019 and 2010 picks to Buffalo) and 5th. Just what has Mittelstadt done that would force Betterall to say no?

Nashville and Buffalo think they are competing this year for the cup. Do either of these trades make those teams better today?

For Nashville
Ekholm is Nashville best dman defensively and he pairs well with any of the other top 3 dmen. Even with being as defensively responsible as he is, he still got 34 points last season and is on pace for 50 points this season. He's got 3 more years at 3.75M. This is extremely budget friendly and helpful when they're dealing with Ellis + Josi contract extensions. Bouwmeester is a 35 year old UFA to be that his best days are far behind him.

For Buffalo:
The value may not be as bad but trading two effective NHL players for Steen + prospects + Picks doesn't help them now. Mittelstadt is also only in the 2nd year of his ELC and provides great cap savings/cost control which helps them keep players of value like Skinner and pursue others in free agency. If Buffalo was in the standings cellar it would make more sense but right now they're firmly in the middle of the playoff race.
