Description

The blackhawks are in desperate need of a second scoring winger with the ability to win face-offs and shut down opposing teams top line. Schmaltz has not been great in the faceoff dot but has tremendous speed and a pass first mentality with the ability to play wing. Schmaltz can and does play on the power play and when paired with the right player (such as tavares or mathews), he can easily put up 50+ points. Anisimov again is a decent and many things but not great at any one thing. He would be more of a depth player who can still put of 30 to 40 points a season. Boqvist is already spoken for as he is exactly what Toronto needs and is looking for- a fast offensively minded defenseman who can jump in off the rush. I think that this trade is good for both sides.

What do you mean anymore. Leafs have 2 and Gardner is probably going to get traded of become a UFA. Theres no way the leafs can afford to resign mathews, marner, and gardner

Rosen, liljegren, sandin and rasanen don’t think we need anymore offensive D prospects.... gardiner is not a prospect.

????? Leafs consider themselves contenders. And contenders don't trade away their upcoming UFAs. 99% of fans know the Leafs aren't resigning Gardiner.
Nylander apparently isn't signing that deal with Leafs, why would do it for the Hawks.
Actually if the trade was just for a high scoring winger, Nylander, the Leafs just might take some futures in the deal like Boqvist and a first. Kadri is far too needed to be traded.

The fact the leafs say no to this is ridiculous.

Schmaltz is very good and has legit offensive upside
Anisimov is alright and could likely be traded by the leafs or used as centre depth for the year then trade in the offseason for a pick
Boqvist has way higher upside than any leafs prospect
Chicago's first could easily be another top 10-15 pick if their defence doesn't figure it out and with an aging core it makes sense for them to retain their picks for the first time in the last decade

This is way too much of an overpay, Nylander is overrated and I think that the Hawks fold as an orginization before even considering making this trade.
Let me put it this way

This trade is so bad that whenever I look or think about it I lose my vision because of the overwhelming rage that wells up inside of me.
