I would maybe sign Duchene on for 4 years at that money. Definitely not 8. That becomes a bad contract once he hits 31/32.

Duchene and Pacioretty can't be sign to 8 years deal. 7 years is the maximum for a UFA that you don't own the rights.

He'll have about 17M$ free, next season to resign Athanasiou, Faksa, Nishushkin, Tierney & Hintz (who, right now, makes a combined salary of 12M$). At least 4 of them will get raises so no, that's not happening.

Without mentioning that he only has 20 players on the roster and needs 23. Again, wishful thinking at it's best. Nothing rational or even possible, here.
